7/5 stars. BETTER than the alternative. Enough so that I'm angry I bought my prior system.
I'm honestly a little annoyed with how good this system is. I spent way too much money on an EXCEPTIONAL sound system but I can't tell the difference between this one and the one that was pitched to me as an audiophile's dream. I wish I had somehow known to wait for this to come out instead of wasting a small fortune on a supposedly better system. I have had wireless speakers before but they were generally lousy, losing a lot of fidelity over the transmission and often lagging behind the source video on my screen. But they've clearly solved that problem. I've even got the rear speakers sitting behind my couch so there's not a clear line of sight and, yeah, I can't tell the difference between these tiny wireless speakers that might, barely, be thicker than my laptop doubled up in a stack and the big satellite speakers I paid more than $700 a pop for. There's no lag. There's no distortion. And now there's more room. While I have things spread around for best coverage, I could stack all of these speakers together in the same space as one of the wired speakers. Set up was also remarkably easy. While there was an extra step with pairing them, and you do need to have them near an outlet in order to plug them in, without the need to run and hide wires, on balance, the set up is easier here as well. The receiver was essentially plug and play without me having to match anything to the type of sound signal that the rest of my system was putting out. My expensive system actually required me to buy an adapter because of a difference in HDMI versions. The connectivity of the wiring from the other parts of the system (PS5, ROKU, and TV) to the old a/v receiver and then on to the speakers was why I got this system in the first place. In addition to wasting a ton of money on the system itself, I wasted a ton of money to have someone run the wiring through the walls so we didn't have to have cords sprawled out everywhere across the living room. Great as long as we didn't change anything about the system. Pure nightmare the second I changed anything. I never successfully managed to fish a line between all the components. I even eventually tried a special wireless HDMI signal after it became clear that there was no way to get the cords to connect without tearing into the walls again. But that had all the old problems of other wireless speakers I have tried previously and the communication problems and probably some others, too, because I couldn't make it work. I finally bought this system in a fit of just pure, "I give up," with the idea that it had good enough reviews that maybe I could get away with just using it a few years while I saved up to fix the "better" system I had already invested so much in. And, yeah, I wish I had just gone with this system from word one. Same sound as far as I can tell. No need for fancy wiring. Takes up less space. So much less effort. My actual advice at this point is to simply buy this and forget what any audiophile or home designer tells you about the best system that you can just get once and use forever for the rest of your life. They're conning you. This is really all you need. I may not be an audiophile but if I can't tell any difference at all, I don't care how much of an audiophile someone tells you they are, they're just making it up. This is more than good enough. Overall, it is a significant savings even if you do have to buy as a single set instead of picking and choosing "the best" in a complex bodge job to take every advantage you can. The entire set was more than some of my components but comparing the whole to the whole, this is way cheaper. Especially if you count wire control and making the space look nice and neat. I would not only recommend this product, I would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to purchase this as opposed to some nicer alternative dream system. Considering the entire experience this is better in every way. 5/5 isn't doing it justice. 7/5, not only is it better, I really am a little bitter that I didn't simply get this product to start, and I have actually notably downgraded my opinion of my former system having experienced this. My previous system may not have sounded any worse but everything else was worse. I don't think I'm ever buying a custom sound system again. This is a dream compared to that nightmare.
