Yes, I’d always recommend a base and top coat.

How do I know which bottle is gel and which is nail lacquer? They seem to have the same labeling

How can I tell which is the gel and which is the regular nail polish? They aren't labeled to tell. Also, the colors don't really match well.

From the DND Duo line, the gel polish (white bottle) needs to be cured under a LED light used with a base gel and a top gel. The lacquer (clear see-through bottle) is just regular air dry nail polish. For the DC Duo Line, the gel polish is the gold bottle, and the lacquer is the clear see-through bottle. Make sure to follow the same instructions for both DND and DC duo line. Following a professional 3 step gel system: DND and DC Gel Polishes needs to be cured under a LED lamp, used with the DND or DC Base Gel and DND or DC Top Gel. Matching nail lacquers need to AIR-DRY. 1. Starting with completely clean and prepped nails, apply a single coat of DND or DC base gel and cure for 30 seconds in a LED lamp 2. Apply a single thin layer of gel color and cure for 45-60 seconds in a LED lamp 3. Apply the second thin layer of gel color and cure for 45-60 seconds in a LED lamp 4. Apply DND or DC top coat no cleanse and cure for 30 seconds in a LED lamp 5. Applying thick layers of gel color can result in an uneven cure leading to chipping and peeling. Make sure to hydrate daily by moisturizing the cuticles Our gel polishes are extremely pigmented, make sure to only apply thin coats to avoid the gel polish not fully curing which can result in bubbles or peeling off. Less is more.
