My experience has been brilliant.
Because I'm clumsy, I really prefer low cost, high spec solutions, and I don't seem to have had the problems some have experiences below at all. My overall experience has been great in the last 5 months - and so I hope to balance some of the other reviews a little for anyone looking for a solid budget solution. I've had a number of budget devices over the last 5 years and this is one of the best so far. Of course, because of this fact, I'm probably coming at this from not experiencing that latest flag-ships - so I'm probably suffering some kind of budget bias now. - Battery life has lasted 3 days without charge for light use - 2 days of regular/normal use, a good long day with heavy use. - It charges fast with the adaptor and cable included - Boots really fast - Headphone jack! - The screen is big and clear and bright and the notch is minimal, no scratches yet despite dropping is several times. - Fast enough to never even consider if it's fast for most things I do (I don't game btw), but navigate a lot, browsing whilst split screening YouTube etc.. - Included case - which is showing no wear at all in 5 months (great grip too) - 3 updates in the last few months of firmware, issues fixed and improvements made - Took my 128Gb micro SD/TF card no issue - 128Gb of internal memory is a ton of space without the card. - No issues for using 3rd party launchers for me. Been using Nova since day 1. - No issues with light leakage for me - although the screen is far too bright even on the lowest setting at night. I have installed other apps to dim it further. - Not experienced any issues with edges of the touch screen, but then maybe I don't use the edges enough on most apps I use? - The fingerprint reader has been solid, fast and works fine for me. Face unlock works seamlessly though so I only use it occasionally - can't say either has ever caused any issues. - Speaker is loud - in fact too loud and occasionally I've had to put a finger over the bottom speaker grill as even at the lowest setting it's too loud. - Doesn't get hot like some budget phones I've had (but maybe I'm not working it hard enough). - The camera is more than adequate for most day to day use. Obviously no high-end sensor, but we've come a long way in budget phones. Good, clear focus on objects and for most actual useful stuff like documents, receipts, memory aids - it's more than fine. There was a minor issue with the touch screen freezing occasionally which was solved easily by power on/off in a second or 2. Latest updates have fixed this now, so far. Also, I think the GPS DOES show the direction facing the wrong way - hopefully this will be fixed - but I've got used to it. I'm impressed that I've had 3 updates in the last few months, something I've not had with other budget offerings from Elephone. I do love having a brilliantly capable phone without being precious about breaking/losing it all the time. If I lost it tomorrow, I'd definitely get another immediately.

Unicorn phone
Downgraded from an S10+ to save money. I have to say, this is the best cheapest phone I've ever bought and I change phones every few months. Software has been Rock solid and is as near as makes no difference stock Android, battery life is incredible, screen quality is excellent, build quality is rugged and therefore solid, camera is acceptable, design is nice, all notifications have come through like clockwork and performance is acceptable. Buy it even as a backup phone, you won't regret it.

Unfortunately a Faulty phone, and a help desk unhelpful
Bought this phone for £179.99. It is a very good phone and very fastrong. Unfortunately, after 4 weeks, my phone seized to work. I broughtthink my phone into a phone shop and they advised me that the power connector within the phone is faulty and and thereforesisting when it's connected to a uabout type c charger, it won't power on. Approximately 3 weeks ago, I wrote to the help desk, but no response or no help. In fairness, after spending 180£ on something, that it would work in sound condition. I would accept responsibility if my phone had dropped, but it has not. Now I'm left with a phone that doesn't work and and a cheap second hand one that does. What do I do now?

A Bargain for the Price
This is an Amazing phone for the price. I been using it for 2 weeks now. I got mine when their was a limited sale for £153. In the last 18 months i have used a Oneplus 3, oneplus 5, Iphone 8 and a Huawei P20 and this is phone is as good as those top brand. Now of course its not better than but its 4 times cheaper than those top brands. Battery Life: Amazing i mostly browse social media and A lot of WhatsApp video calls and i got 8 hours of video call. Their is no phone that can comes close to that. Any other day to day task and you can easily get 10 hours screen on time. Performance: very reasonable i don't play High demanding graphics games so I can't tell but So far i haven't seen a single lag. It performs really well in everyday to day task Display: For an LCD its not bad at all, its decent, it's pretty bright you can easily use it in sunlight its just AMOLED is better in every way. Camera: Now here is where they have to compromise a little bit. The camera is mediocre at best but its not bad in anyway but if you want a phone with great camera you have to pay 6-7 times more. I think anyone who knows how to take pictures, understand photography they can make good use of this camera. Cons: Of course for a phone that price you have to expect a few annoying thing like. No front LED lights, phone gets quite hot if charge n use at the same time, speaker is loud but no bass, finger print won't recognise you're finger 5 out 10 times, widgets not that great, slide navigation are really annoying to use. To be fair those things are not a deal breaker at all, you may not even notice them anyway. The biggest problem by far are lack of updates. The last security patch was in January and we are in may now. For a small phone manufacturer i completely understand that but you UMIDIGI are releasing new phones everything month. Instead you could have updated your previous phone lineup. That's the reason i gave a 4 star instead of 5. Other than that this phone is Amazing, i can easily use this for a year or more. If you want a great Battery life phone with flagship performance look no further than UMIDIGI F1 and F1 PLAY

Mid range performance at budget price - great vfm
Really pleased with this phone. There's no bloatware, performance is fairly snappy, the display is good and the battery is great. The camera is so-so but good for the price range. It's also a little on the thick and heavy side but - with a 5000+ mAh battery - that's understandable and doesn't bother me. The case feels cheap but I didn't expect there to be one included and I'll buy a nicer one separately. In general, it looks, feels and performs like a mid-range phone but at about half the price you'd expect to pay for one. Great value for money.

One frustrating bug - fixed now
I've had my F1 phone for a few days. Mostly it's exactly as I expected and I'm pleased with it. Battery life is very good, the display and performance are good too. The reason for 3 stars is how the camera works with WhatsApp. WhatsApp uses its own camera software which on most phones is fine. On the F1 there an issue with how the camera "talks" to the WhatsApp camera software. The result is that when the picture is composed on the screen it looks fine. When you take the picture the resulting photo is zoomed in and skewed to the right. A number people have complained on the Umidigi forum, I have submitted a bug report. There's been no response. The workaround is to use the camera outside of WhatsApp and then share via WhatsApp. The lack of response from Umidigi is frustrating. Edit...the bug has been fixed after a system update. 5 stars now. Edit 2...I'm sorry I've had to return to 3 stars. The WhatsApp camera bug is fixed - thank you! BUT now the front camera cannot be selected which also means Face Unlock no longer works. The front camera cannot be selected in the native camera or Open Camera. It used to work. Please fix. I love the phone, just not these relatively minor issues which should be found in testing.

Great value mid range phone
Had a few of the mid range UMIDigi and can't fault them, each lasting 3 years+. The F1 is robust, light weight and during operation very quick. It has a large screen which is great quality and comes with a nice stylish black case. Calls are clear and I've not experienced a cut out yet as per previous models. Works on all UK providers. I can't understand why people pay the big bucks when there's phones like this on the market, like for like at a fraction of the cost..... you're only paying big bucks for a brand name.

Great phone.. See update
Great phone, I've had 2 wireless updates , including a brand new camera, since I purchased it. It's fast and really comfortable to use. I'm a tiny bit disappointed about the size, I really wanted something bigger because of poor eyesight. The size as described is accurate but I would have liked it to be a little wider. I imagine though that most people would love the screen size. Perfectly usable one handed. The screen definition is great. My previous phone was a Samsung s7 edge and the screen on the F1 feels just as good. The battery life is sensational, 2 or 3 days depending on how you use it. My Samsung couldn't get through a complete day with similar usage. I have had this phone for nearly a month now and enjoying it even more as time goes on. The camera is better than I expected and the latest upgrade has made it even better. Ok,this isn't exactly a detailed review but at the price this phone is going to be hard to beat. It even has NFC which is rare in a China phone at this price point. UPDATE 28 AUGUST 2019 : I have never bothered updating a review before but after reading some of the crappy reviews I honestly wonder what people expect at this price point. The phone has had yet another update, including security and phone features, the camera has been updated once again and a few minor bug fixes. I absolutely love this phone, usually after a month or two I am experiencing buyers remorse but not with this phone, I am enjoying it even more. My other main phone is a Samsung S7 Edge, I have hardly even turned it on since getting this one. This Umidigi F1 feels just as good to use and I actually prefer it. I am probably going to order 2 more for my wife and daughter, it's that good. I was led to believe that updates would be few and far between, simply not true. I think that altogether I have had 4 updates since receiving the phone. Updates that have completely fixed camera issues and also fixed a few minor quibbles. I personally have only experienced a couple of minor issues, one that was completely eliminated by the latest update and one that still needs fixing. I find that very occasionally I need to turn WiFi off and on again, but seriously this is my only issue and I'm fairly confident it will be resolved. I have owned several "China" phones, this is by far the best one yet
