Simple tool that works well
I recently purchased the GoHelper Chisel Sharpening Jig, and I have to say, it's been a game changer for my woodworking projects. Here’s a breakdown of my experience: Design and Build Quality The GoHelper jig is well-constructed, featuring a robust aluminum frame that feels both sturdy and lightweight. The adjustable settings are easy to manipulate, allowing for precise angle adjustments, which is crucial for achieving that razor-sharp edge. The clamps hold chisels securely without damaging the blades, which is a big plus. Ease of Use What impressed me most was how user-friendly this jig is. Even if you're a beginner, the clear instructions make setup a breeze. I was able to start sharpening my chisels within minutes. The sliding mechanism operates smoothly, and I found it easy to switch between different chisels with varying widths. Performance When it comes to sharpening, the GoHelper delivers outstanding results. I used it with both water stones and diamond plates, and the jig held my chisels at the perfect angle every time. After sharpening, my chisels were incredibly sharp—able to slice through wood like butter. I was particularly pleased with how quickly I could restore a dull chisel back to its original sharpness. Versatility This jig is not just for chisels; it can accommodate a variety of blades, making it a versatile addition to my workshop. Whether I’m working with mortise chisels, paring chisels, or even smaller carving tools, the GoHelper handles them all with ease. Value for Money Considering its performance and versatility, the GoHelper Chisel Sharpening Jig offers excellent value for money. It's an investment that will save you time and frustration in the long run, ensuring your tools remain in top condition. Conclusion Overall, the GoHelper Chisel Sharpening Jig has exceeded my expectations. It’s a reliable tool that simplifies the sharpening process and produces professional-quality results. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to maintain their chisels and enhance their woodworking experience. Whether you’re a seasoned woodworker or just starting, this jig is worth every penny!

Best Chisel Sharpening Jig Ever
Wow! First chisel I tried this jig on is sharper than I’ve ever had it. It was super simple to set the correct angle and super easy to clamp the chisel in the jig. Foolproof and repeatable accuracy. Cuts through cherry end grain like butter, really. It has a very nice wide roller that allows me to use the entire width of my diamond stones. And I’m sure it will be nice when it comes to plane irons - the jig is plenty wide. Well made, thick aluminum material. I never liked my clunky, cumbersome, hard-to-use veritas rig that costs about 3 or 4 times as much! Plus it doesn’t handle tapered chisel blades at all! It’s going up on Marketplace.

Well-done and it works!
This is a nice kit - well-thought-out, with very clear directions, well-worth the money (if you want sharp chisels) and easy to use. It brought one of my dad's chisels I had inherited - the one with a chip in the cutting edge - to a sharp edge with three hours of off-and-on work. Now . . . to work my way through the REST of the "chisel drawer"!

Easy to use. Good quality.
Easy set up bevels. Almost foolproof. The wide roller keeps the blade level. Works well for chisels and plane irons. Bevel set is off by a half a degree, but not important.

Very solid built that does what it should
I received my shipment today and gave it a quick test. I have a few honing guides and I think this is going to be the one I'll use most. Very solid build, the Jaws grip nice and tight and the plane iron sits square in the Jaws. Nothing more I could as from a honing guide. It work as it should and at this price! Well done Gohelper! Good piece of kit. I like-y a lot! :-)

Very nice, great for planes.
Really nice piece of kit that makes plane sharpening a breeze. I've used this for regrinding edges on old planes and it works a treat. Been using this for a fair while now and the only wear I've seen is the roller is no longer glossy due to the stone, everything else is pretty much same as out of the box.

Outstanding little sharpening guide
I bought this because I was having a heck of a time getting an new inexpensive block plane properly sharpened by hand.. The kid is easy to set up and quite accurate.. I don't think I ever would've been able to sharpen this properly by hand because having the guide showed me just how badly the blade was manufactured from the factory. I never would've spent the time required to sharpen the blade, as I never would've suspected it was as bad as it was. (out of the bike. I don't think this plane would've cut hard cheese, let alone any kind of wood.). A fair bit of sharpening later, with the guide to show me that I was going in absolutely the right direction. The cheap plane is now quite decent and able to take nice curls off of hardwood with little effort. Definitely good value for the money here. I did also want to respond to another review I saw which almost made me not buy this product. One reviewer was complaining about the "chrone" coming off the roller fairly quickly. THERE iS NO CHROME! The roller is a nice heavy piece of polished stainless steel with nice smooth bearings. But due to the nature of how this product is intended to be used that polished stainless roller is going to be rolling over the sharpening stone or diamond plate that's used to sharpen the blade . Naturally, running the roller over a coarse surface intended to a abrade metal, is going to dull that factory polished surface. It has zero effect on functionality, and it's just a consequence of the way the sharpening guide is supposed to work.. Overall entirely satisfied with this purchase, and glad to have it as part of my sharpening kit.

Excellent tool, makes setting up and sharpening t the required angle breeze. Well made from anodized aluminium with a robust roller which is nice and wide to prevent the unit from rocking unlike some of the other types of guides which have a small roller which can make maintaining the correct angles difficult as its easy to grind the tool not perpendicular. The tool can be removed mid way through sharpening and then refitted back into the jig and continue with the sharpening process without any issues, indicating the jig is precisely made with.

Klasse Teil. Mega!

Honestly I was surprised at the quality of this unit. Extremely beefy construction, a wide roller with ball bearings, angle set, and hard anodized aluminium construction. I'd expect this type of build quality to be easily north of a hundred bucks if not more! if you're looking to sharpen your chisels and planes, look no further. The guide works extremely well!

I chose this chisel sharpening jig with 4 different whetstone grits for both chisel and planer edge sharpening as well as basic everyday tool sharpening tasks. My old whetstone was very old, has several grooves and chips and simply wasn't up to the task of tool maintenance any longer. Rather than just by a sharpening stone set (or stones individually), I chose this product as it not only covers the necessary sharpening grits (400, 1000, 3000, 8000), it includes a jig that makes tool sharpening so much easier. If you're anything like me, you have a difficult time keeping a proper angle of a tool against a whetstone, especially over dozens or hundreds of passes. This angle is crucial for effective and efficient sharpening so having this jig goes a long way to helping with this. As shown in the listing, you use the guide to determine your tool's edge angle, you mount the tool in the jig using the provided guide, and then simply start to roll the jig over the length of the stones, starting at 400 and progressing up to 8000. This is very easy to do and should be simple to anyone, even those not accustomed to tool sharpening. While the jig is extremely helpful, it does have its limits in terms of the width of the tool you're sharpening and the travel over the length of the stone. As another reviewer has mentioned, you don't get a lot of travel over the stone as the jig itself takes up a fair amount of length. I don't consider this an issue but it's something to be aware of. Keep in mind, however, that the jig is not limited to use on just the whetstones. In fact, I found a couple of my old chisels with VERY rough edges that had been beaten up and abused over the years. The damage was so bad that I wasn't able to file down the edge using the 400 grit stone after 10 minutes of sharpening (the grit was simply not course enough to remove enough material from such a damaged tool edge). Thus, I simply laid out a piece of 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper on my workbench and worked the chisel in the jig over the flat sandpaper. Being a rough grit, it did a fantastic job of removing enough material from the chisel edge where I could properly begin sharpening again on the 400 grit stone. Moral of the story, the jig will work great on any flat, hard surface. As for the other grits, they did an excellent job on both my planer blades and my chisels. I've taken a few knives to the stones too and all came out with excellent results. If you're looking to a set of stones and do a fair amount of woodworking, this product covers a significant number of sharpening operations, not just carpentry tools. Great product, well-built and one that I'll be using for a VERY long time.
