strong, clean, easy to install.
I’m still finishing up my stairs, but one thing became clear after installing the first pair of these DIYHD metal stringers: two alone were going to be a bit bouncy. Rather than adding a mid-span support post—which would block access to the storage space under the deck—I ordered two more stringers to stiffen the run. That solved the issue and kept the underside completely open. The stringers themselves are strong, well made, and feel high quality. The factory finish has held up well so far, with no visible chipping or rust. Installation is dramatically easier than cutting traditional wood stringers, and as a bonus you get that clean, modern floating stair look. Compared to precut wood stringers, these are a great value. They’re bug-proof, dimensionally stable, and while steel may eventually rust, these will easily outlast wood in the same environment. Overall, a solid product and a smart solution if you want strength, durability, and a cleaner design without mid-span supports.

Modern looking steel stair stringers
These stair stringers are great, and easy to install, you'll need stair treads (boards) and a large Phillips (star) driver to install

Very sturdy
Solid They worked great to replace my wobbly wooden steps Too soon to tell if they will last but, so far, so good

Will probably need to buy screws/bolts to finish your project.
Well-made, sturdy step bracket. Liked that they welded completely along the seams and did not just spot weld. Should be a safe, long life product. Would have given five stars except for the attachment hardware. Was not possible to attach the step board to the bottom using supplied Phillips head screws unless you have a right angle screw driver. They also included only Concrete bolts to secure the step, however my step was used on a wood patio deck. Instead of their hardware, I purchased 3/16 inch hex hex lag bolts to attach the step and 1/4 inch hex head lag bolts to attach the stringer to the deck. I used a socket wrench to tighten the bolts after pre-drilling pilot holes.

These made it easy to create stairs to my deck
I really appreciate how this simplifies the creation of deck stairs. They look nice but it's tough to get all the screws in from the bottom side if that's how you want to install the boards.

OK product
I thought this was well-made and worked well for my application. Had some bounce so I installed a center in the middle of the stairs and seems very solid now probably would’ve been fine. The other way I didn’t like the bounce and the step.

Well built but poorly designed!
Overall the stair stringer is built well, sturdy and lightly powder coated. The design leaves a lot to be desired. It comes with concrete bolts to mount it to a concrete wall and “self-tapping screws” to attach the wood steps to the stringers. The concrete bolts are fine but only work for concrete, so if you need to attach to anything else besides concrete, you will have to buy a different type of bolt. The biggest problem with this design is the way that the steps are supposed to be attached. The screws are supposed to go through the pre-drilled holes in the stringer and Into the step from underneath. This is not possible due to the incredibly limited amount of space under the step. Even with a stubby screwdriver and pre-drilling all of the holes in the steps, there is no way to screw them in without having a specialized screwdriver. The only real solution is to forgo the screws that came with the stringers, purchase lag bolts and bolt through the top of the steps into the stringers. It is painfully obvious that whoever designed this product has never actually turned a screw! So, if you purchase these step stringers, also plan on purchasing all of the proper hardware since the hardware they send is of no use. This product gets three stars due to the fact that the it cannot be used without modification and having to purchase additional hardware that should have been included with the product in the first place!

good stringers, but do not use self tapping screws as there no room to install. after some time I used carrage bolts

They are great! So easy to put up. They saved me so much time and frustration. When all you need to do is add the treads what could have been an all day or even all weekend project took less than 2 hours.
