Empathy Review: Get the entire series! - The Empathy Series - 5 stars Ker Dukey Empathy Desolate Vacant (An Empathy Novela) Ooooooooh k … So I found this series by accident when I was swooshing around Tracy’s blog as I do stalking her quite frequently. The series was published in August of 2014 BUT if you have not been introduced to this author .. um … you should go get these books right now. They are FREE if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription. Ok .. Moving on .. I really don’t even know where to begin here. This was my very first book by Ker Dukey. – and good lawd I have been missing out. Let me WARN you though. This is a very dark, intense and not easy on the stomach series. It seems my brain has become twisted as I have fallen in love with books swirling around in torment and desire. The story is told from three different perspectives, Blake, Ryan, and Melody. I can't tell you too much without spoilers. Blake is the character that sucks you in, I was intrigued to say the least. He's empty; a professional killer without emotion. The way he's written is phenomenal. I wanted to stay in head. He is all kinds of messed up but with good reason. At the age of 18 his life changed forever. He has demons that live within him. He feels nothing after his kills turning right back into to his daytime job of being a detective. Ryan is Blake's brother. He's one scary a** man, he's a complete mystery, and petrifying. The story is written so that you are directly linked to his mind but you have no idea what he's up to. He's closed off much like his brother, empty and although his brother saved him; he feels absolutely nothing towards him. Ryan, as you move through all three books will completely screw with your mind. And then we meet Melody, the all American good girl from a wealthy family. Her world completely shatters upon returning home one evening at the request of her mother. Melody and Ryan meet in a class after Ryan is confronted by some jock classmates baiting him; calling him a freak as Ryan chooses to not speak, look or interact with anyone .. ever .. until Melody. Something about Melody makes him tick. Blake runs into Melody by accident on campus when coming to find Ryan and she stirs the same feelings in Blake. Who is this beautiful eyed girl that seems to be able to tame the beast within him. I devoured this in one sitting, this story grabbed me and didn't let go. The character development was spot on, the writing was engaging. The plot, the twists, left me totally flabbergasted. And then I did the same with Desolate as well as Vacant. You wont believe what happens in the short novella. I was banging on my kindle for more pages to turn and they just didn’t come. Im telling you this is one sweet, sick gruesome and twisted love fest of words on pages sucking into a deep sinister depth resembling hell. ITS SOOO GOOD! You cannot read the books out of order or skip one but you wont want to. Im sick and these books made me question my sanity in loving them and the characters as I did. But as I always say .. isn’t that why we read? Please go get these books if you like this genre … and dear god help you as you are snatched into the evil and disturbing lives of these three characters. I have issues …. LOL! Review: WOWZA! - This book surprised me... And believe me, it's not an easy thing to do! Can circumstances change us? Can the evil doings of others dim our light, making us cold, dark and evil...? “𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲? 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. 𝗜𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂.” Melody's life is perfect. She's a college student and has supportive and loving parents - but everything changes after a she meets the two brothers, Ryan and Blake. Their choices will affect her life forever... I won't give any spoilers, - I'll just say that despite the book's name, they both have NO empathy at all! "𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹, 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿, 𝗜 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗱; 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗱." As the story progressed, I couldn't imagine any romance in it and I was totally ready to be disappointed, but... WOAZA! Dark, mysterious and full of surprising twists... This book was a crazy ride. And the end? I never saw it coming! However, this book was short (less than 200 pages) so accordingly, there were some developments that happened too quickly to make them reliable... Still, I enjoyed every twisted minute. “𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.” “𝗡𝗼, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲.” 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. So if you want to read a dark and twisted story that will make you feel shocked to the core, I totally recommend this book!

Wow!! Just Wow. Never have a read a character who is so cold, calculated, Psychopathic and irredeemable in my opinion. Ker Dukey defiantly capture the essence and thoughts of a truly evil individual with what I think is scary accuracy. Brilliant dark read. Before starting I didn't realise this was part of a series and I am scared to read them. I think I prefer the ending I created in my head where it is sunshine and lollipops. Not for the faint of heart but if you like a dark, messed up read then this is the story for you.

Honestly, I have no idea how to express what I felt about this book. Definitely dark and the suspense, not that you really know it's meant to be a suspense. Its only at the end you realise how wrong you were about everything you thought was. I did feel for Melody though. Blake, still confused about the way I feel about him. Nonetheless, the sure fact that I'm gonna dig into the next book in this series just proves the fact that the book had me hooked. Onto the next. 😉

There are some books you feel honored to read before they're released to the readers. I have to say that Empathy is definitely one of them. This book had the perfect combination of dark and light that the words and story just flowed through the pages. Ker Dukey did an excellent job of bringing us a male lead you love to hate and a female lead you wish you could trade places with. Through the haze of sexual desire we are graced with a story of family, truths and lies. Is the path taken to protect the right one? Is the person being protected the person he seems to be. Are we really predestined to live with such hate that the need to protect at any measure is one we do without remorse? Is it possible that underneath the person we believe we are is not the person we are at all? Empathy had me hooked from the very first word and I couldn't put it down until I finished. Empathy is most definitely one of those books you neglect work, cooking and cleaning for. I'm such a fan of Ker Dukey and each one of her new releases becomes a new favorite.

I'm not even sure where to start. I need to take a deep breath and let it absorb. What a wild ride!!! It was crazy intense, and dark. Through it all I couldn't see how this could possibly have an ending that I would've hoped for. I enjoy dark erotic~as long as I feel good about the story when it's over. So I didn't see how that was going to happen with this one, but I persevered, and I'm glad. This is the first time reading anything from this author and now I'm looking forward to more. The ending, holy $@#%!!! Wild. Just wild! Just download it....what a trip!

Reviewed by Donna Elsegood for Kindle Friends Forever Empathy- the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. The title was all I had to go on and I was delighted to be asked to read and review Ker's new book. It is clear from the prologue that Blake and his younger brother, Ryan, have had a very unconventional upbringing. Blake is a cop but secretly a contract killer and you soon realise he is a dark soul. One thing is clear; he adores his brother and supports him through college. Ryan is a very close-minded character who does not interact with the other students. There is no eye contact, no interaction, he just exists. Melody is intrigued by him. Sitting next to him and glancing at him, they are thrown together by circumstances when they are paired up for a project and become friends. Melody goes home to visit at the weekend and a tragedy strikes changing her life forever. However, she literally bumps into Blake and she thinks he is a rude, arrogant ass regardless of her attraction for him. Blake cannot get her out of his mind either, so is his dark side going to come together with her light? There are some very hot sex scenes and also some very on the edge of your seat scenes. This story has a real twist in it where you think you know where the direction is leading, bam; something happens you never see coming! This novel is very cleverly written because it makes you think you have all the facts about the characters; nevertheless, while waiting for the secrets to come out, you'll not only be surprised, but shocked as well. My heart was beating fast and my environment ceased to exist when the whole story was unfolding. Very dark and gripping and sexy of course! Towards the end, there is a very sweet ahhh scene, and you think it is all going well only to be hit by another scene that could be a brilliant set up for more books surrounding the characters. I would love to know more about them, and I've got to say that Blake is my new book boyfriend. Dark, brooding and definitely a sexy alpha male. Melody is a great female character. Smart, sexy too, and a breath of fresh air for Blake in spite of the fact that she's been through a terrible time. As for Ryan, I'm not too sure! He certainly gave me goose bumps and I'm not entirely sure if that is good or bad. A very worthy five stars. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and wish Ker every great success with it. Highly recommended and I can see myself reading this at a later date for a second time and there is also a great playlist on Spotify that fits the story so well.
