I'll keep this short with some details: - Super fast delivery. Got them 2 days ahead of schedule on standard shipping. (Ordered a friday night, received them monday afternoon). - Very clean, nice look to them. - Solid construction. - Sound quality is amazing. The only thing is that the stock speakers in my 98 Taurus had about the same hi's as these; but the mids and lows are much stronger with these. I only bought one pair to replace the front speakers because they blew out on me. But I am planning on purchasing a pair for the back at some point for the extra bass. - Easy installation. I checked a video on youtube about how it would look taking out my stock speakers and I'm glad I did; I got the heads up to stop at Best Buy and grab a (metra) wiring harness adapter for $16 after tax. Clipped onto the stock harness and I was able to connect it right to the speaker. The few negatives I came across: - My left door matched perfectly with the holes on speaker to the door, however the right side didn't match up as well and I had to use different screws to pierce the metal to fasten the speaker on well enough. Was kind of a hassle. - The new wiring harness I purchased from Best Buy needed a little tweaking on the positive side. The negative side slid on nice after I pried it a tad. The positive side however was only big enough to fit the negative side without messing with it. So I had to cut the plastic guard around the end of the wire off of the positive on the harness, unbend the prongs, then bend them to fit the positive end on the speaker. A little annoying, but no big deal. (Sorry if that is confusing but I'm no pro at the exact part names on these type of things.) - The tweeters sit out a little bit and this causes the door speaker grill to press up to the tweeter enough so that I was not comfortable with trying to clip in the corner fully. Overall I am very happy with these speakers. Great sound for a good price. Throw in the extra money and get quality sound. I keep the 5 stars because the product does just as it should and my negatives are not the fault of the product exactly so I'm not going to down it for that.

My wife blew out the factory door speakers in the trusty 2000 Ford Ranger I was handing down to my son, so I needed to replace them with something more durable. He's a musician and music fan like his old man, so getting the right speaker set was critical. I only knew Rockford Fosgate by reputation; in previous stereo installations I had happly used Jensen, Pyle and other brands. But after a bit of searching I was intrigued by the T1682s and decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did! Ford uses a special connector for their speakers, which necessitates cutting off the original connector and replacing it with lugs, or buying an adapter. Stupid me, I opted for the latter out of laziness. The Metra 72-5600 Speaker Adapter for Select Ford Vehicles posseses female lugs that are insanely small, and will not fit the RF male lugs out of the package. I had to stretch them with a screwdriver tip as I noted in another review; NOT happy about that experience at all. Live and learn. The speakers are much bulkier than the factory originals, but for front door mounting that was not an issue. I was even able to reuse the original screws instead of the ones provided. One caveat: the unusually-mounted tweeter sticks out enough that it pushed out a bit on the door panel grill. Not a big problem, and no impact on sound as far as I can tell-- just letting you know. Some have complained about lack of bass, but that's not true for my installation. Even set at the median level, bass was deep, rich and distinct on every song I tested. In fact the one thing that really stood out with these was how clearly I could hear every instrument on well-mastered songs (try Boston's "More Than A Feeling"). I let 'er rip to test Wife-induced Blowout potential, and don't see it happening. These suckers took everything I threw at them with crisp, clear buzz-free results even up to maximum volume. I'm waiting for the complaint letter from my neighbors. Tomorrow I'll be sliding in an Alpine CDE-W235BT In-Dash Double DIN CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver w/ Bluetooth, iPod Control and Front Aux and can't wait to hear the result! Overall: very pleased with this choice. I'll be buying another pair for the back of the truck cab. And start a savings account for my son's future hearing aids.
