Review: A good read. - It gives you a very different perspective to think with. I female- girl initially and then a women, loved by 9 different man in her life. They have discribed her one by one in 9 chapters. Amazingly they all have discribed her differently. Review: Recommended to all😄 - Title :- The Nine Chambered Heart Author :- Janice Pariat Language: English Binding :- Hardcover Publisher :- Harper Genre :- Fiction A strange book which makes you feel giddy, and at the same time happy. It's funny how we think most of the times, that our lives are an amalgation of big things. But as it turns out we're often wrong about it. And our lives are in turn an intricate framework of little things. Because often we know, we're all well aware of the fact that, a whole is made of many broken parts. Likewise, by fluctuating between different emotions, making and unmaking a heart, to love and unlove - the author compels/persuades us to alter our vision. The book talks about human identities - how they're perceived by others. How sometimes others see us only in bits and pieces, and how sometimes we tend to become what others perceive us to be. The books discusses about a woman and her relationships with nine other people. Nine characters recall their relationship with a young woman, spanning across various places, times, lifespan, ages - the same woman - whom they've loved, or who has loved them. The narrator pieces her together interlinking & extrapolating with various scenarios & the relationships with the people she has been, must as how we do with others in our lives, in incomplete but illuminating slivers. Language is exquisite, a delectable feast for the readers. Narration is another delightful feat which hooks the readers onto the book completely leaving them engrossed across all the nine short stories that has been presented in front of them, offering them a respite with a sheer intensity of grasping more as the time progresses. A riveting read which induces us to look into ourselves, to reach for the stories of our own hearts. A must read, recommended for all.

🌸🌸A Simple Beautiful book 🌸🌸
If you ask me to describe this book in one word, that's BEAUUUUUUUTIFUL. . An incomplete book with complete sense. Not a story, it's a story of stories. . First thing first, it is a beautiful light read and perfect as a February read, full of love. . The idea of plot is so intrigued. The story moves with graceful pace. The plot of the book is really amazing, but I think some rooms are left to get touched. . I mean it's a very simple book with an ordinary story, may be that's the beauty of this book.

A contemporary reading!
I picked up this book because I have come across so many good reviews. Besides that, the exceptional title and the attractive cover of the book made me curious. 🙂 The Nine Chambered Heart by Janice Pariat is a story about a girl who was loved by nine men or who was in love with nine men she met at different point of time. 🙄 The girl is described by those nine men differently in nine different chapters according to their own perspectives. 😐 The poetic writing style at the very first page caught my attention. It is of course one of the good contemporary romances and the unique book I've read till date. 👍 No name is mentioned throughout the story; not of the female protagonist, nor of her lovers, nor of the places. 🤔 Only some geographical descriptions of the places are given. The story is a bit cliche. The repetitive physical descriptions of the girl given by those nine men and her repetitive mistakes with each men she met is something I found very monotonous. 😣 What I learnt from this book is that people sometimes tend to show that they know you so much even when they know you very little or not at all. And in the end, you need to be yourself, because people will put judgements upon you no matter what and this shouldn't affect you. I didn't find the book upto the mark, maybe because the story wasn't relatable or may be so many things are exaggerated.🙁 . I would recommend this book to those who want to read something new, something exceptional from the stereotypical writing; and to those whose favourite genre is romance; also to those who are so much into love. (Don't get me wrong please😂). Would rate this book 3/5.

i Loved this book!!!
The narrators are nine nameless characters- The Saint, Butcher, Caretaker, Undertaker, Professor, Florist, Crusader, Lighthouse Keeper, and The Sailor. They talk about this woman from their own experience and memories. And we journey through their eyes and see this woman growing as the years pass by. . And the narration is a breeze. Simple yet exquisite. Crisp. Compact. There is not an extra word or sentence that doesn't add to the story. For the sheer beauty of words in there, I would gladly read it again and again. It's a very different kind of narrative that i have come across perhaps for the first time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Go for it - interesting narration style, and just easy and lovely to read
If this is your first Janice Pariat book, I’d recommend you also read the short story Boats On Land. I’m not much of a writer/reviewer, but know that this book was a dream to read. The bottom line is - I always want to go back and reread all her books; this one is no exception.
