This kit is still kicking months later, it really has been a hit!
My kids loved this kit and I love that it came with reusable nice silicon modes. After we used the soap making supplies it came with we were able to go to a local craft store, get additional supplies, and replicate the soap with the kit. So even though some kits are “one time use” for this one it’s still going strong. It came with plenty of extra coloring, glitter add in, etc. Really the only thing we had to get more of was the soap bars. I love that everything is unscented, and that you can choose to make without the glitter - cause, you know, sometimes you just don’t want glitter in your house or on your body. 🤣 I don’t really know how much science my kids learned with the kit, but they really did enjoy it - and still are! I think for the price this one really did hold its value. It’s a very nice kit with good artwork, higher quality supplies, etc. Would gift a 8-12 year old this and I think it would be a fun non-electronic experience!

Great activity that keeps the kids engaged
Got this for our neighbor friends since they love crafts and it was such a hit! This soap making kit is easy for a 10 year old and kept our friend engaged and busy (along with her younger sister) for quite a while. Instructions were easy to follow and there were a variety of styles and colors that could be made with all the supplies needed (you just need a microwave to melt the ingredients and some napkins.) This kit is a perfect tech-less activity that is loads of fun. It makes for an awesome gift too!

My Kids Loved It
As a soaper who has been making cold process soap for several years, this is near and dear to my heart. I was able to get my kids excited about my hobby and maybe even teach them a thing or two about science along the way. No, this isn't the "real deal" lye and fat soap making that I do. Instead, you get to play around with some melt-and-pour soap and some colors and scents. Definitely more safe, but missing the actual fun of watching oil turn into soap. I really like these standalone KiwiCo projects for being able to do what the regular subscription crates can't. That is, they are able to use larger and sturdier (i.e., more expensive) supplies and the projects are often longer and more in-depth than the standard ones. Unfortunately, they also come with pretty hefty price tags. Having several years of experience in soap making, I know what these materials cost and it's pretty clear they're making a killing. What you're really paying for here is the creativity of designing a kid-friendly project that will keep kids more engaged and excited to learn some STEM concepts. So yeah, while it's not a perfect product, it's definitely a fun family project and the end result is pretty nice. If you're looking for a cool educational gift for younger children, you've found one.

Easy to do- everything is included except the microwave
It was so fun to do this activity with our playgroup. We meet for an hour and a half, and that was enough time to read the little lesson in the booklet, make the soap, and thanks to our fridge to speed up the cooling process, send the families home with their bar of soap. The pictured pink crystal is the one my family made because I knew it would take a little longer to make. I've been aware of KiwiCo for awhile. A subscription-based science curriculum isn't really my style, but I can't deny the quality of their materials. I'm really glad that they are making some of their kits available a la carte, and after doing this soap kit, I know I'll be looking into their offerings in the future. KiwiCo is very popular in the homeschooling communities. When people ask how they should spend their science funds, someone always brings them up and gets positive social-media reactions. The booklet had very clear, well-written and in color. Everything that we needed to make the soap was included and it was very easy to do, which is perfect since I have never made soap before. 5*. We had so much fun making this soap and now my kids want to make more, which is always a sign that it was a win.
