Danziger Original Goldwasser Liqueur, 70 cl

Absolutely loves this. It's vodka-based, but is far more viscous and warm than standard vodkas. There are strong notes of anise, licorice and cinnamon, and while it is lush and soft on the tongue, once it goes down the throat there is a mild burn that further develops the flavours. The floating flakes of gold make the drink look special - not sure if they do anything for flavour. Someone once told me they are meant to cut the throat very slightly on the way down, to intensify the burn as you swallow. Not sure if that is actually true, but it sounds good.

Reminds me of being on holiday in Germany. Goldwasser is the premier schnapps. Try it!!

This was a present for my sister, she loves Goldwasser and is very happy when I buy one for her.

First tried this in a bar in Poland many, many years ago. Brought a bottle home with me and have struggled to find one since. Really pleased it's on here

Me and my mate bought a bottle of this jollop in 1990 and it was vile, sickly, yuk but the gold was a good novelty (though gold sparkly dumps did not occur as hoped)
