Velo 2 - perfect touring companion
I purchased the Beeline Velo 2 for a 14-day cycling trip between London and Edinburgh. In the past, I would plan the route in Komoot and use my iPhone to navigate. This time, I decided to try Velo 2 for its simplicity and to avoid having my expensive iPhone attached to the handlebar and taking daily abuse. I was THRILLED that I gave Velo 2 a try! Full disclosure, I did NOT use the Beeline app to create the daily routes. I am really comfortable using Komoot to plan my routes, though I could have easily done the same in the Beeline app. Once I created 14 daily routes, importing them into the Beeline was a snap. Each days’ ride showed up in the "Ride" tab, so it was just matter of selecting the day’s route and heading out. I put my iPhone in airplane mode to save battery life and off I went. My riding buddy also had the routes and used his Wahoo to navigate. 99% of the time we were in agreement when to turn (and there were a million turns each day), and I would say Velo 2 was more likely to be correct. Each day we rode down a combination of paved, hard packed gravel rails-to-trails, and even a few spots along the eastern coast that could be called walking paths. For me, the Velo 2 simple display is pure genius. It gives you just enough information to easily anticipate turns, and an audio cue that is nearly perfect. My only tiny complaint was I am getting hard of hearing and wish the audio turn que was a bit louder - but it’s perfectly fine for most riders. Originally, I thought the audio que was coming from my iPhone but only realized that wasn't the case when I let my buddy try out the unit on his bike and realized the sound actually came from within the Velo 2. As you can guess, it rains a lot in the UK, so the Velo 2's water resistance was tested for many hours. I never had a problem. Not quite sure if it is in fact waterproof, so I don't suggest you forget to take it out of your jersey and run it through the washer - which I almost did! The claimed battery life of 11+ hours seems correct. We rode most days from 8:00 to 16:00 and the Velo had more than 50% battery life left. I charged it each night, so I never actually ran it until it died to find out the true battery life, but from my experience, 11+ hours seem reasonable. In summary, I LOVE the Velo 2 and will continue to use it as my cycling computer. Some reviewers had less than perfect experiences with their Velo 2, but my 14-day, 8+ hour per day, rainy, sometimes bone jarring ride, has sold me. I hope the developers at Beeline resist all attempts to make it more complicated. Its beauty is its simplicity. If you want a detailed color moving map, heart monitor, altitude, etc. then Velo 2 is not for you, BUT for the rest of us, it is an amazing solution.

The Beeline Velo 2 works for me, and my intended type of riding
I did a lot of research about the Beeline Velo 2 before purchasing, so I didn't have any unrealistic expectations. I was looking for a cycling navigation device that is simple and streamlined, and without any fitness related functionality that I wouldn't use. I don't consider the Beeline Velo 2 to be minimal because, along with its app, it does provide a good bit of information. And the Beeline team is continuously improving its interface (for example the new elevation graph) and product support (for example the new silicone case), all based on customer feedback. The first time I experienced my Beeline Velo 2 was on gravel roads and forest service roads in southern Arizona. Using the Beeline app was easy and intuitive and recognized the entire route (mostly off-road) that I entered. The device navigated my path accurately and mostly in a very remote area. Its display is bright enough to see in direct sunlight and its audible beeps before an upcoming turn were easily heard and helpful. I read that some people don't like that the Beeline Velo 2 has to be used in combination with a phone running the Beeline app. Well, even if I was using the most advanced standalone navigation device available, I would still have my phone with me while riding. And I'm not going to mount my expensive phone on my stem or handlebar. I see the Beeline Velo 2 device as an extension of your phone, which enables the device to have a small form factor and be truly unique. I really like my Beeline Velo 2! It works for my non-competitive yet adventurous style of riding.

solid device albeit simple
so I want to start off by saying I've done two trips with this and have dropped it on concrete from pocket height because I somehow failed to put it in my pocket; and while it feels very light and weak this thing took the fall like a champ and did not even get scratched or dented. As for the use as a GPS in general it is pretty good, it is less of a GPS and more of an second screen for the app while on a route in a smaller package than your phone, which is great if you just want something simple and easy to use. you get some useful information and options while on a route like the ability to like/dislike a road (I have yet to see if this affects the routing yet because of my low # of rides but the map shows disliked roads from other people) it also shows your speed, distance to the end point+ an ETA (has been off by 1 min each time in terms of time till destination but not arrival time one example is it will say you have 5 mins left on the route but it will show a time of arrival that is 4 or 6 mins from now). overall the device is really nice and simple with the only issue I can see people having being the fact you have to use your phone to set the route. which on this this point I do wish that the device could hold a "home destination" that you could quick select from the device without opening your phone, but otherwise this is a pretty good nav.

For The Price, You Can't Beat It!
I won't go over what those of you have already written, but I'd like to let you know about something that really pleasantly surprised me. After a ride one day, I put the Velo 2 in a jersey pocket intending to charge it. I did a load of laundry later on and guess who forgot to take the Velo 2 out of the jersey pocket before washing? That's right, this guy. I was able to pry open the case to let the unit dry out and lo and behold, 3 days later it was working again like a charm! Kudos!

Solid barebones headunit, great for the essentials or budget minded cyclists
I bike daily as a form of transportation in northeast USA and the beeline has been a everyday accessory for the past year. Overall its a pretty good. Easy navigation and ease of use of the unit itself. clear and decently bright but sometimes have glare/obscure screen in bright sunlight while wearing polarized glasses. Its simple and bare bones and I kinda expected it especially given the price compared to other similar devices but it does those things pretty well. My two issues with the device is that one when it gets cold weather the device does not like it and has trouble saying on or working in general and an error message pops up requiring you to reset the device. It happened a number of times last winter but since warming up the device has not given the same error. Most importantly is the fact that your phone needs to be connected to the app to record a ride or get a speedo readout. Im sure the device has no real sensors other than a gyroscope but its a minor gripe that seems like a easy fix or feature list for an updated version. I believe there should be two versions even tho possibly more expensive version with sensors, onboard memory, ant+ to connect to radars and possibly a slightly larger screen to help accommodate features, if the form factor is the same or similar.

Great simple little bike navagation computer
If you want a simple little navagation computer, it is perfect. The app is easy to use, pick your destination, and it will guide your way. Because its not a touch screen and has actual buttons, its easier to use while riding your bike. The battery life is reasonable. It does notify you when you are approaching a turn with a few beebs, but if there is a lot of background noise you might not hear it. The one extra feature I wish the app would have is create a route in which you position at a starting point and miles and it will create a random ride.. It does have a compas general direction Mode but if you like the visual directions the previous model had, you might be disappointed. It would be great to pick your style of navigation. My complaints are so minor, I still give it 5 stars.

Great little bike GPS
Fantastic little GPS for my e-bike trips Very easy to read. Not a screen like you would see on your phone…just straight forward directions with distance to go and what way to turn Saves my phone battery because you don’t need to have your screen on on your phone Not a big fan of the mounting to your handlebars…which uses thick rubber “band” material and I can see it eventually breaking…there are other options but they need to be ordered from manufacturer

Disastrously lacking
I purchased this for Mountain biking, only to find out it’s NOT capable of mapping trails. And also the build of this is soo flimsy, setting it up using buttons feels like it’s going to fall apart. They got one thing right though , it’s the design, it looks good. But what good is it if it’s not sturdy, not trail friendly at all.
