Provides a Lovely Golden Blonde Color
I have been using this hair dye for at least 12-15 years! I get the golden blonde (90), and it does pull a little red because of the golden tones, but I love the honey blonde look. My hair always feels super soft after using the included conditioner and I always pack the extra conditioner in my suitcase because it's a nice deep treatment when all the hotels have is a light conditioner.

So far the best I've used for the results I want
I have short hair and use the blonde 100 color which turns out perfect every time. I don't need blue or purple shampoo when using this. The color seems to maintain very consistently for the 3-4 weeks til i cut my hair and recolor. I've tried a few other products which came out way different than advertised, and I also made my hair like icy blonde which required purple shampoo about every 3-4 days to knock down brassiness which just isn't a problem with this at all. It's a nice natural blonde tone that isn't artificial looking. My dark eyebrows make it fairly obvious I dye my hair but this is way nicer looking than anything i ever got from straight bleaching and toning afterwards etc. I might experiment with some other shades of blonde in the general ballpark of like 90-111 and see how they come out but so far this light natural blonde 100 is the best blonde i've ever had. my hair looks far better than it used to at the salon years back when i used to get it bleached as a kid. with short hair everything comes out a tiny bit darker as it's all closer to the roots and is more newly formed hair that's less porous so i'd probably aim for a shade or two lighter than what you are wanting if you're a guy with short dark brown hair to start with. generally speaking though this is pretty accurate with the color chart on the box and if you have short hair, there's plenty in the bottle to run it through a second time before it goes bad if needed (like during the same setting it would have to be done right after the first round is washed out and hair is dried.). The tone of this seems to have that nice kinda multi dimensional look of real hair that doesn't all look like a solid paint job on your head like some hair dyes tend to look like, at least for nearly a week til they lighten up and tone down from washing. After about a handful of different products I'm glad to have found this. Definitely hoping they make this forever without discontinuing. Super solid product that's beyond simple to use. Within 35 minutes and minimal efforts you should have the hair color you likely wanted. Overall doesn't seem to be too harsh on my head either. Definitely doesn't turn my hair into half cooked ramen noodles like when straight up bleaching and toning. The mask this comes with is pretty amazing. I leave it in for like a half hour while i fire one up and then rinse it out after. Everyone's hair reacts differently to different products so I obviously can't guarantee you will have the same awesome results I did but I'd say it's worth a shot.

Natural Brow color but the conditioner needs improvement
I was a long time use of the Clairol Natural Instincts brand in Medium Brown but became disappointed with how dark the shade turned out. I decided to switch to the Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing crème hair color formula in Medium Brown 50 Truffle and It exceeded my expectations! It’s a soft brown that’s a more natural medium brown and does a great job of covering the gray. I like the thicker formula and the avocado oil that’s mixed in before applying. And it smells so nice! The only problem I have with this brand is the after coloring conditioner. I used about a quarter size of the conditioner as I’ve done with the Clairol brand but as others have mentioned, it made my hair feel kind of oily and it removed the nice scent that was left after coloring. This is where the Clairol Natural Instincts has Garnier beat. The Clairol after color conditioner leaves my hair soft, shiny, and smells oh so good! I’ll continue to use the Garnier coloring formula, but I’m tossing out the conditioner and sticking with the Clairol conditioner.

My go to hair color...
For the longest time I was willing to let my silver grow until one day there was so much of it that my dark hair looked like it was lighter than it was. If I had Grey hairs, it probably wouldn't be an issue but true silver hairs reflect a ton of light, are almost white and reflect light through all your other hair colors. It was time for a change... First I tried a soft black that was more brown than black and didn't really suitme. Then I went pure Indigo and loved it, but it faded quickly. I love the deep blue hue of the Indigo and when silver starts to grow out, it blends in up until you get close to an inch of growth. I finally settled on Mulberry which is a gorgeous blue black and hides the silver very well, but again, only up to about an inch of silver showing. So, how often you need to redye/touch up your roots is completely dependent on how fast your hair grows. I can go as long as 8 weeks or as short as 3.5 weeks. This largely depends on my health and my diet. I eat a lot of fresh vegetables, peas and beans full of great nutrients. When my thyroid is fully regulated, combined with my very healthy diet, my hair needs coloring every 4 weeks. I love that I can get this in a 2 pack and I love that it's peroxide and ammonia free. I do suggest that if you use this, make sure you are conditioning your hair. Also, when you color your hair, might I suggest using some Vaseline at the skin of your hair lines and both sides of your ears? This helps get the dye off without staining your skin. I also suggest using nitrile gloves instead of the ones they provide. You'll find it's easier and less messy. That said, I highly recommend this product!

My Fountain of Youth in a Box (Bonus: No asphyxiation!)
I’ve tried my fair share of box dyes over the years, but Garnier Nutrisse 40 Dark Brown (Dark Chocolate) has earned VIP status in my bathroom cabinet. It’s affordable, effective, and doesn’t make me feel like I’m dying in a cloud of fumes—so that’s a solid win to start with. Unlike other brands (ahem, Schwarzkopf), this one doesn’t try to strangle you with a chemical smell you can almost see. The scent is mild enough that I can breathe normally for the full 25-minute processing time without wondering if I’m losing brain cells. After rinsing, the scent is faint and pleasant—nothing to make your family avoid you for days. Let’s talk results. I’ve got long, fine hair and enough grey to outshine a well-lit Christmas tree. This dye covers every sparkle, leaves behind rich, dimensional color, and the dyed greys actually add soft, natural-looking highlights. It matches my natural (non-grey) shade almost perfectly—just enough refresh to make me feel like myself again, minus the shimmer. Application? Listen—I’m busy. I don’t section and paint and pray. I squeeze the thick cream directly onto my roots and massage it through like shampoo. It stays where I put it, doesn’t drip all over my face or sink, and gets the job done in record time. And now: the conditioner. Oh, the conditioner. I’d buy this stuff by the gallon if they sold it separately. It smells nice and leaves my hair feeling silky soft and tangle-free, which is a minor miracle. I stretch that tiny tube for at least two months—because nothing else detangles my hair without ripping it out strand by strand. One downside? The gloves. Like most box dyes, they’re clearly designed for people with giant hands and infinite patience. I gave up on them rather quickly and now just use my own gloves every time. Trust me—it’s worth it. I wash my hair about every other day, and I’ve never noticed fading before my roots grow out. The color holds beautifully between applications, which makes it all the more convenient. ⭐ Pros: Doesn’t smell like chemical warfare Excellent grey coverage with natural-looking highlights Thick, no-drip formula = fast and easy application Leaves hair silky soft (thank you, conditioner!) Long-lasting color without noticeable fading Affordable and reliably in stock ❌ Minor Con: Included gloves are glorified plastic sacks—bring your own. Final thoughts: This is hands down my fountain of youth in a box. If you want rich color, soft hair, and a scent that won’t knock you over, this one checks every box—just not the one the gloves came in.

Title: Covered My Grays Perfectly & Saved Me a Salon Trip
This hair color was exactly what I needed. My gray hairs were getting completely out of control, and it had been months since I’d been able to afford a professional salon visit. I decided to try this, and I’m so glad I did. It was easy to apply, didn’t feel harsh, and the color (50 Medium) matched my natural hair beautifully. My grays are fully covered, and my hair still feels soft and healthy, not dry or damaged. For the price, this is an amazing alternative to the salon. I’ll definitely be using this again. Highly recommend for anyone wanting great gray coverage at home. 💇♀️✨
