Giant Custard Cream Cake

I bought this to make a birthday cake for my son, the result is a crying shame...The cake mould I received looks nothing like the picture in the advert. The lettering for "Custard Cream" is woefully small and therefore impossible for the cake mix to enter let alone be legible once cooked.I can't really recommend this item at all, please avoid... Disappointed is an understatement.

I was really looking forward to trying this as my husband's favourite biscuit is a Custard Cream. But despite several practices and following the recipe to the letter, I just couldn't get good results. It either burnt, or the Custard Cream patterning was barely visible on it. Shame as I think it's a cool concept, it just didn't work out well for my. Maybe I was unlucky. The mould is nasty to clean too and it's virtually impossible to get all of the cake residue out of the detailing!

Completely different mold to the one advertised was sent to me - as the previous review mentions - squished into a smaller box.Really poor considering the cost of the item.

I had to buy a cake support to hold the silicone mould in place as the mixture pushed the sides out leading to a wonky cake. £12 from Amazon, used it since with other silicone moulds. Wearing gloves I rubbed butter in all the crevices for the print to show. Pleased with results.

It’s lovely and novelBut not giant. Pretty much aize of a standard square cake tin. However, i really like it!

The mould arrived squashed in a box smaller than the mould, which made the mould misshapen. This has caused problems with baking, the mixture has spread to the "new" shaped mould so once baked is not a square! Very disappointed with this product as not been able to bake a cake as it will not cook in the middle and just burns on the outside.

The success is in the preparation; you have to spend some time making sure butter is rubbed into every crevice, then dust lightly with flour.........and the result is perfect. My custard cream-loving friend really enjoyed his cake!!
