The Hydra 5000 is a fully featured all in one photography and dive light. The light has wide, spot, red, and UV modes all in one light. Two buttons makes cycling through the modes, and multiple intensity levels quick and simple. The single COB LED for the flood mode provides a very wide and smooth beam with no shadows, and natural color. The head of the light has been made water resistant so if you happen to flood the light, the head should remain safe! This means the best of both worlds, being able to swap additional batteries, and not worry about flooding! I reached out to the desertcart support team via Chat, they were really helpful and helped me trouble shoot however unfortunately the item did have a technical issue. desertcart put me in touch with the team at Kraken and to say their service and follow up was impressive is an understatement. Super fast, super helpful and issue completely resolved in under 24 hours. Thank you Kraken team, your products rock and so do you guys. Aside from my positive view of Krakens follow up service I used the light on a number of dives now and it is a sensational unit. I am quite new to CRI ratings for video lights however can say it produces a really powerful and bright light perfect for go-pro type filming at 20+ metres deep, while having a very warm and natural feel. Other video lights I have used are too cold for underwter use where as the Kraken 5000+ is extremely natural. Will look at Kraken for all future lighting needs. Thanks again Kraken. adamwalters.com Review: Outstanding light, poor electronics reliability - This review is for the newer 5000+ version of these lights. I did not purchase these on desertcart, I purchased them from another high quality national shop. The head unit failed on both lights between 6 and 12 hours of operation, rendering them useless on a very special liveaboard dive trip. I gave them two stars because when they did work, they were beautiful lights, no rings, shadows or artifacts in the beam at all, very nice white soft light. I also can say they are very nicely designed and the units themselves appear to be of high quality. I did note that they put out a serious amount of heat and you can feel it during the dive. In the end, if you can't trust your lights on a major trip, the best lights in the world are as good as the worst. I sent them back and got a full store credit, I'm very appreciative of the shop for doing this. Perhaps they should consider a burn-in period for their electronics.....two of two failing is not a good sign.
