PopularMMOs Presents A Hole New World: A Graphic Novel

My daughter found out her favorite YouTubers created this book and she decided to order. The storyline can get a bit jumbled and each book starts off in confusing ways. Though, the illustrations are beautiful and my daughter enjoyed reading this first book so much that she ordered the rest. She doesn’t have a regret! I would like to mention that some of the pages are ‘uncured’. When you rub your fingers on a few of the pages, white chalky stuff comes off onto your hand like the color is coming off from the drawings. On each book including this one, they have many scratches on the front cover. Other than that, everything is well. Great read for kids!

My 9 year old is in gifted classes and has the highest test scores in her grade (and possibly entire school), but she dislikes reading books in spite of her being on a much higher reading level than her peers. She has recently become fond of "graphic novels"...and although I feel they are simply overgrown comic books, I am excited that she has finally shown an interest in any books at all. She loves the Popular MMO's YouTube channel and asked for this book by name for Christmas. Christmas morning came 'round, and she was gifted this book. She was excited to read it and immediately ran to her room to get started. About 40 minutes later, I walked in to check on her and she was already doing something else. I asked her if the book had bored her, and she stated, "Oh no! It was great! I finished it like 20 minutes ago and it is one of my new favorite books!". So clearly it didn't exactly occupy much time and didn't challenge my 4th grader in any way, but she loves it...so that's what truly matters the most. She put it on her bookshelf so she can read it again sometime.

My kiddos, Fiona and Seamus, have been fans of Pat and Jen from the moment they became aware of YouTube. I got this book for Seamus' 10th bday and I'm so glad I did. It was an amazing value for the price. The book itself is a durable, large hardback. The illustrations are rich and imaginative and the story is funny and heartwarming. If you're a fan of Pat and Jen this is a must have. If you enjoy Minecraft it's a must have. If you have no idea what I'm talking about but you enjoy good graphic novels it is still a must have. I'm pretty sure I'm not the target audience but I read it and enjoyed it immensely. I strongly recommend a physical copy of this delightful book.

My son got stuck at the book store in the mall reading one of these books. We don’t do screen time with the exception of 2 movie nights on the weekend, so he didn’t know this from the YouTube channel or from Minecraft. I planned on ordering him these books for his birthday since he seemed to like it so much, but instead ordered the first one for his Easter basket. He was thrilled and started reading it right then. That of course was after church YESTERDAY! He’s already 1/2 way through the book for his second time reading it. I wish maybe it was longer? But he’ll start the next after his birthday. Already preordered the new one that’ll be out this year. My one suggestion- DO NOT do what Dav Pilkey did in book 12 of Captain Underpants.

This item shipped quickly and came in perfect condition. My 5yo son will not put this book down. He loves all the adventures that Pat and Jen go on and watches all their YouTube videos. This book just keeps him engaged and I'm just happy that he's interested in reading it. I also think it's quite entertaining myself. I cannot wait till the next one comes out and see the look on my son's face when he sees it. Awesome awesome job Popular MMOs! We love you!

My son is the typical active technology dependent 9yr old. There have been actual arguments/tantrums around simply staying still and reading. But his love of my Minecraft, YouTube, and animation was all encompassed in this book. True it’s more a graphic novel/comic book about gaming characters as opposed to a chapter book, but it’s a start and hailed as a win for steps toward unplugging and reading.

I don’t know much about Pat and Jen other than the fact that my 6 year old son loves their YouTube videos. When he told my wife and I that he wanted this book we were happy because what parent doesn’t love when their kids want to read. My wife read the book with him over the course of a few nights and he was able to read about 90% of it without her help. A few days after they had finished reading it together he asked if he could read it again but with me this time so it must be a good book if he wants to read it again.

My 13 year old son would watch Pat & Jen videos all day long if they were able to churn them out faster. His dyslexia is a constant discouragement from reading, however, this graphic novel style book has been wonderful. It really is a great story with characters you are familiar with (if you watch their Youtube channel), and I enjoyed reading it as well. Congrats to Pat & Jen on creating a great book, my son is anticipating the next one!!
