My son had brought home bed bugs after staying at a friend's house. Initially, his bedroom was the only room impacted. When we realized what these strange bites/rash that he had on his shoulder was caused by bedbugs, I had him vacate his room and we removed everything but the furniture from the room (placing everything in sealed trash bags in the garage). I then went to the store to buy various products to get a jump on the situation immediately. We thououghly vacuumed the floors and baseboards, steamed the mattress & the carpets & then applied an all natural product from the hardware store to his mattress, ortho home protection on the base boards & we put diatomaceous earth along the baseboards and under his bed. We thought we had the room in a "quarantine" mode and figured we'd just stay out of the room and hopefully they would stay contained to that room & die. A week later I woke up to find bites on myself...guess they migrated looking for food and all that we had done previously hadn't worked. I called a couple nationally known pest control companies and they wanted thousands of dollars to come take care of this issue. As a single mom, I do not have that kind of money to spend on pest control. I got online and did a search for top rated bed bug killer and came across this product. It was a little pricey, but WAY cheaper than having an exterminator come out. Upon reading all the amazing reviews, I felt very hopeful that this would be manageable on my own as long as I was thorough in my process. I wasn't really sure how far the product would go since I've never had a bug situation before, so initially I bought three one gallon jugs based on what other reviewers had said they needed. I also bought encasements for my mattresses and pillows. While waiting for my product to arrive, I got my house ready to spray by removing everything from the impacted rooms (aside from the furniture) and placing everything in sealed trash bags out in the garage. This can seem like an overwhelming task, but it is an important part of the process. After everything possible was removed from the rooms I vacuumed everything, including base boards...curtains came down and were washed in hot water and thrown in the dryer on high heat. I also wiped the walls down. Within two days I had my Ecoraider, spray bottle & my encasements. (Thank you Amazon!) I'll admit, I went a little heavy handed with the spray in the initial treatments. I sprayed every crevice of every piece of furniture, even pulled dresser drawers out and sprayed them individually, sprayed bedframes, mattresses were vacuumed, encased & sprayed on all surfaces, box springs, the same. I even spayed a light coat over the whole carpeted floor as well as the edges of the walls, window sills, etc. The smell was a little overwhelming (as I used all three gallons in my initial application) but not completely unpleasant or unbearable...it would have been better had it not been so hot outside. I couldn't open the windows to properly ventilate because my a/c was on. After the first application was complete, I promptly ordered two more gallons for subsequent treatments. I started vacuuming three times a day, hitting base boards and mattresses once a day. After the week was over, I had received my replenished supplies and sprayed for a second time, this time just doing the perimeter of the room (baseboards), closets & around furniture. During the next week, I continue the routine of vacuuming 3 times a day and did a third round of follow up spray. I am now in week four and neither my son nor myself has had a bite in a week and a half. I still haven't gone through all the stuff that is in sealed bags out in my garage , but we had several very hot days over 110 throughout this ordeal so I'm sure anything that might have been in there is dead. I will, however be thoroughly inspecting and cleaning everything before it is brought back in. This has been a complete nightmare that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I am very thankful this product was out there. I feel confident that it has helped me to defeat the bedbugs that were in my home.

Gazing at my Amazon account, sadly I can see it has been a YEAR of me fighting those nasty bedbugs. Where did they come from, a couple of possibilities I have found during this year long battle. My husband travels a bunch could that be it? Or more than likely it was our poor decision (before I even knew about bedbugs) to pick up that beautiful huge sofa that someone left on a curb. Either way it has been one hell of a battle and EXPENSIVE! I was not worried when I first found them, I would have them gone in no time, so I thought. I was not proactive, please if you see any do not be me. I went to a big box store and bought some spray that did not kill them, but came close to killing me and it did not work. My next steps were to get bedbug covers for the mattress in two of the rooms where we saw them. This did not seem to help so hours of searching on the internet, I decided steaming them out was the best way! This was no issue as we just moved into this home and I had to rip down tons of wallpaper with a steamer. I steamed walls, steamed floors, steamed curtains and those damned things were still there in both rooms. It finally hit me, I need to get rid of the carpet in the master bedroom and put floor down, which I did. This did not work. I then thought okay, let me take off the bedbug covers and wash them (NEVER DO THIS), what a mistake they were back in full force. Back to Amazon ordering new bedbug covers to never remove. I then decided to buy the most expensive bedbug killer listed on Amazon that should do the trick, this stuff has residual killing. House got sprayed and we went off on 7 day cruise. I am so excited when I got home, by this time it has been about 7 month of us sleeping on the sofa or in our RV. I rewashed the sheets and comforter that we had packed in black trash bags. Living in Florida those bugs should be dead right as they were stored in garage. I put the clean sheets on and snuggled down. When I woke up I had never seen so many bedbugs all over my bed, all over me, and possible eating at my dog. That was it, my 30 years of marriage was about over as we had not slept in same bed for almost a year. Nothing I have done has worked. I called Orkin out to evaluate the house. With his flashlight (that was the same as mine) he showed me that they were in my curtains, my chair and every frickin where. For a small price...cough... of $5,000.00 they thought that would cover the price to tent my home. Had I used alcohol he asked me? No I had not. Don't bother with the alcohol. Here is what I finally did to get us almost bedbug free. They say don't buy a new mattress but after almost 30 years of marriage and sleeping on the same mattress I ordered a new one, it was immediately covered with the bedbug covers before it made its way to the master bedroom. I researched even more ( I am a walking encyclopedia about bedbugs). I threw out all of our bedding and pillows. I bought new sheets, new pillows for every room but my sons (don't make this mistake, those bugs travel) and after reading the review I purchased EcoRAider. The first night after I sprayed the bugs were greatly reduced. Unfortunately that is when my son noticed the bedbugs were in his room also, so I immediately ordered bedbug covers, new sheets ect... Were they gone after that, no. I don't know if there is anything that is an immediate fix. I have been spraying EcoRaider everyday around the beds, on the beds, on the pillows, on the base boards and have seen results that I could not find from any other product. I have been spraying daily for about two weeks, and there are some days I see nothing! I need another gallon jug of this fabulous product. It has no smell, my dogs and kids are good. My husband and I have moved back into our bedroom. My kids rooms I have not seen one single bedbug. This has been a very expensive war for me, and I swear this product would get a 5 star out of 5 except it does not come with a sprayer. I had to use a old sprayer out of an old bottle of the non working bug bed spray that I had left over. Hope this helps you in your nasty journey. Buy this product.

We have been going through the mortifying experience of bed bugs. We have no idea where they came from and how they got into our house. We only only assume it was from the previous owner, which the house was gutted due the condition and rehabbed. We have been in the house about a year with majority new furniture. By the time we saw we had an infestation, and started looking deep into the corners of beds etc..., we had full size bed bugs in multiple areas of our house. I immediately got on the computer and started researching due to the limited knowledge. We have very little clutter in the house and my wife is a neat-freak. We were so embarrassed and immediately cut our children having friends over. I took the advice of the professionals and explored an exterminator, pricing out what it would cost the heat the house.... $2000. For that price, I started asking about guarantees. There was none. If it didn't completely eradicate, we would have to pay for another treatment. Not going to gamble. If we were going to spend money, I'd rather put together a long-term plan. My wife and I went crazy researching and put together a strategy. To clean, we purchased the following: McCulloch MC1375 Canister Steam System Hoover FH50150 Carpet Basics Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Plus Bagless Upright Vacuum, UH70120 - Corded We cleaned the whole house vacuuming, carpet cleaning, and steaming. We then created the homemade traps and covered the house in Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade 10 Lb . We also bought LINENSPA Zippered Encasement Waterproof, Dust Mite Proof, Bed Bug Proof Breathable Mattress Protector - Queen Size and HLC.ME 100% Waterproof & Bed Bug Proof Zippered Pillow Encasement - Breathable - Dust Mite Proof Pillow Protector - 5 Year Warranty - King for the mattresses and pillows. We fortunately had some time away from the house this summer over weekends so we could let the house sit for a couple days and let the DE sit. We applied the DE by getting old baby powered bottles, and filling that with the DE to dust and also using old makeup brushes. For a couple weeks we cycled through this. Spread the DE on a Friday. Leave for the weekend. Come back on Sunday. Suck up the DE, re-steam and dry linen on high. Then reapply for the week. We cycled through on the following Friday. The DE and the streaming was working, seeing dead bed bugs, but this wasn't fast enough for our room. Our children have metal bed frames, and after throwing out the bunky boards, we stopped seeing any evidence of in their rooms but our wood bed with under-storage and a clothed headboard, we learned it is very hard to treat all the hidden spaces. For the nights we were in the house, my wife and I could barely sleep knowing that the bugs were still here. We were taking Zzzquil to just get to sleep. If not, anytime something made our skin sensors fire, from a breeze to just nerves, we would be up with a flashlight. We never found a grouping but given our sleepless nights, we would be up at 4am with flashlights to search and see them We finally had enough. Before throwing out an expensive bed frame, that's less than a year old, we did some more research and came across this product. We didn't consider sprays before due to all the bad reviews of the big manufacturers but my wife found this product and decided to give it a shot. We first ordered the 16oz, directly from the manufacturer with expedited shipping, since Amazon didn't have it in stock. Also note, the bottle took three days to get to us, not two, and they refunded us the expedited shipping. We appreciated that customer service. We took the bottle and treated our room, the whole 16oz in every space of the room; we even took off the headboard and covered and space that bushiness card could fit in. The next morning, no sign of bugs. So we purchased this gallon and have treated the whole house along. The smell is strong, so I recommend you have the house open but its nothing close to a normal "cleaner" smell. The house smells like a forest but it's better than the fumes of some strong cleaners. We believe we won this battle but know the war may not be over. We will continue to treat the house with all the different products to eradicated any chance we didn't get all the eggs. We spent over $1k to treat our house but I feel much more confident then crossing our fingers with an exterminator. This product was the silver bullet for our strategy, killing the hard to find and stealthy bed bugs. I highly recommend using this product in your overall strategy. Please note, one 16oz bottle can completely cover a room on an initial application. If you need to over a whole house, get the gallon. As we are now just reapplying, we don't use as much. But our initial treatment we over sprayed to be sure, using a whole 16oz bottle.

Worked great to fumigate items I couldn't use heat on or directly spray. The smell is pleasant but be sure not to get it on plastic items. It disingrates certain plastics. They started to crack and chip. It worked alright as bedbug killer but the smell is too much to use it for whole house. Didn't stain furniture. Good option for those who are eco friendly and not in multi-unit complex. Living in multi-unit complex I needed a combination of pesticides. I still used ecovenger to fumigate in bins. But wouldn't be as effective for entire home. Bedbugs flee to neighboring units if they detect certain smells. I used a biopesticide to ensure if they fled they took the pesticide with them and another that had no smell that would cause them to flee. The combination worked.

This saved us from a worse infestation of bed bugs, I'm glad I found it when I did! (Wish I'd found it sooner though) I didn't even know what we were dealing with, until my friend mentioned they had found out they had bed bugs and asked if I thought maybe my kids were getting bit, which they had been and this started after her kids had spent the night at our house. Before this though, I just thought my sons were having allergic reactions to something in my house (that's how bad they were getting bit) but I didn't know that until she mentioned this and we put it together! By then though, these little bastards had made their way into my bedroom and that's when I found out that we indeed had begun having our own infestation, and one night I ended up seeing them to confirm! I tried so much other crap first before coming across this. Here's what worked for me; I moved EVERYTHING out of my kids bedroom first, I wiped down walls, doors, furniture, vacuumed, put all clothes, sheets, blankets, pillows into large trash bags. (I sprayed the inside of the bags, let dry and place everything in there) I did this for every room of my house. Since it was so much work, I did one room a day. But if you're gonna do this, you need to do one room a day, and spray in between rooms, i.e. hallways, door frames, and walls leading into next rooms. These little buggers will escape from the room you've just treated into the next, you don't want them to have that chance! I paid special attention to the corners and edges of the walls, but I would spray EVERY INCH of the rooms (even ceilings! I had to make sure this worked!!) So, during the morning, while I was the only one home, even though it says it's pet friendly, and the smell isn't terrible, but with the way i was spraying it, it got to be a bit much, so I wanted my kids as well as our fur babies out of the house while I treated. It was very hard work, but I managed to rid our home home of these pests within a month of using this! I went through three gallons in that month, but it was definitely worth the money! I had spent so much already on other stuff that did NOTHING so once I saw this was working within that first week, I stuck with it! Anyway, so I washed and dried every that was washable with the hottest water and hottest temperature possible and sprayed drawers, closets, and beds quickly before placing anything back in the rooms. As for furniture, remove drawers and doors if possible before sparying because they will try and hide in any tiny crevice, so you don't wanna miss ANY! Spray mattresses generously and buy a bed bug protector, they are also pricey, but worth the money as well! I sprayed the mattresses and immediately placed the protectors on them. This does leave a residue so DON'T wipe your walls or anything down after treating. This is why I wiped down walls before applying. Repeat the process at least every couple weeks until you are positive they are all done for. I did it every week. Again, very time consuming and hard work, but so worth my peace of mind knowing my kids weren't getting bit every single night!
