Best purchase
UPDATE JANUARY 2023: This little milk maker is still going strong! I use it religiously and it'snever given me problems. I even (accidentally) got the head of the unit wet; it glitched out at first, but I let it dry out and it's been fine ever since. When this unit goes bad, I will absolutely buy another! UPDATE APRIL 2022: I definitely don't regret this purchase! I did have a minor incident where the screen wasn't locked securely in place (my fault) and came off during the grinding process. That action caused the blades to poke a hole through my screen. Since this unit comes with 2 screens (one for nut and one for rice milk) I just started using the rice milk screen to make my nut milk and honestly, I don't see the difference. I still need to buy the extra screen to have on hand, but I believe I have to do this through the manufacturer; extra screens are not sold on Amazon (as of this writing.) This is STILL a wonderful purchase for me. It's sturdy, easy to operate, simple to clean, and will save me hundreds of dollars a year, with an extra bonus of not having to throw away hundreds of wax containers a year. ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM SEPTEMBER 2021: Pros: * Easy to clean. Not sure why some of these reviews talk about it being hard to clean. Very simple, even the filter. * Easy to use. I make oat milk and I use oat groats to do it. Rolled oats made a slimy mess for me. I use 1 cup of oat groats, fill the water to the first fill line inside the carafe, press MILL 6 times (it grinds for a few seconds then stops. I repeat this process 6 times for thicker milk), then add 1 teaspoon of pink salt and 1/2 teaspoon of stevia, and sometimes I'll also add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Then voila! We have fresh oat milk everyday in 2 minutes. Cons: * one batch makes just a little over a 1/2 gallon. You have to make 2 batches if you go through it quicker, but it's not that much more time or effort to do so. * this may seem silly but the MILK and the MILL button are right next to each other and to make nut milk, you have to use the MILL button. I haven't made anything with the MILK button so not even sure what that does. I only mention this because it was confusing in the vague instructions, and MILK and MILL or similar words with (apparently) two different functions. It would be easy to accidentally press the wrong button. * which leads me to the last con which is poor instructions. The instructions themselves aren't horrible, but there's no recipe or anything inside to use as a guideline. I created my recipe through trial and error. It's a great purchase. Has saved me a ton of money from having to buy oat milk at the store, and I'm no longer throwing out oat milk containers. I've used it every day for 3 months and have not had any issues. Very happy with my choice in nut milk makers.

Awesome product, awesome result.
Awesome product, awesome result. When buying an appliance, it is important to know what to expect - and not to expect - from it; many of the negative reviews for the Soyabella (and other soymilk makers) seem to be from people who had the wrong idea about what soymilk makers actually /do/. When made the old-fashioned way, making your own soymilk consists (a) soaking the beans in cold water, (b) grinding the soaked beans into a paste, (c) two to four hours of simmering, skimming, and keeping pots of water and soybean-paste from boiling over, (d) straining resulting hot liquid to get out the bean fiber, and (e) seasoning to taste. It's not hard to do at home, but it's tiring and very time consuming. Automatic soymilk makers replace the hours of heating and processing beans and water into a milk-like solution with a casual 15-minute wait, and do some of the straining for you. They do /not/ fully strain the liquid (that takes too fine a sieve - it would clog incessantly) or conjure seasonings out of thin air. If you're serious about getting the price savings (about a quarter the cost), energy and resource savings (no packaging or fuel used to get it to you) and convenience (no need to run to the store when you need more), be realistic about what the Soyabella will do for you - and you'll find yourself enjoying the best soymilk you've ever tasted. And so: 1) Soak your beans for 8-12 hours. 2) Run the soymilk maker. 3) Pour the resulting soymilk through cheesecloth or a /very/ fine sieve, to remove the last 'gritty' particles. 4) If desired, season with a bit of salt, sweetener, and whatever else you fancy (vanilla anyone?) We've been using our Soyabella for several weeks now, and have had consistent, delicious results. Not only is the soymilk excellent, but it makes a great-tasting tofu, as well. The okara (leftover bean mash - you're not throwing that stuff out, are you? It's a powerhouse of nutrition and a free bonus) is of similarly high quality, and has become a staple mixed into doughs for our breads, muffins, and even cookies.

What a labor saver! This makes fool proof great tasting soymilk.
This makes having soymilk so easy compared to homemade. Less mess, never "beany" tasting, the okara comes out cooked and no exposed heating element. The vanilla recipe tastes every bit as good as store bought. One surprise for me was this grinds the beans finer than my blender ever did. If dried out this truly could be soy flour. I like mixing it in as a creamer in soups. The downside to this fineness is that some does get through the filter basket. A little cheese cloth in the top of a brita pitcher solves that. I haven't tried it for soups or nut milk yet. Ricemilk I don't like the taste of so well and the yield was less since the rice clogs almost anything you strain it through. Good rice cerial though. Cleaningwise, they have a nicely designed cup to hold the head/basket assembly, catch any remaining milk and unlocks the basket for you. ( No burned fingers:) My only two drawbacks are 1) I wish it made more per batch (4 cups) and 2)I do worry that the motor sounds like it is working really hard on the first grind. I find I'm not saving much over making powdered milk per week since it is so yummy we are drinking twice as much. For a lactose-intolerant or vegan house hold though -- what a money saver!

It makes many different kinds of vegetable milk and also cooks warm preparations like oat flake. Very easy to use and incredibly rapid. The customer service of the producer is also extremely helpful. I have already recommended the product to friends

Ottima!!!
