A must have for any car owner!
Amazing product! Save hundreds of dollars from buying this inexpensive tool, this is a must have for any car owner whether you know how to fix cars or not you NEED to own one. Installation is very easy, you just need to find the On Board Diagnostics (OBD) port on your vehicle, if you have issues finding the port you can always just refer to your car manual or via google search which normally tends to be a lot quicker than flipping through your manual. But just find the port, connect the dongle to the port and then turn your ignition on and done! Absolutely no batteries necessary. You can now view if there are any codes thrown or issues with your engine or ECU. Navigating through the menu is quick, easy and smooth, you can look up diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), I/M readiness status test for checking if you will pass emissions, O2 sensor test, onboard monitor test, read descriptive codes, clear codes and more! Thankfully I was fortunate to receive this product almost right before my car threw a Check Engine Light (CEL), plugged this bad boy in, saw the pending issues with random misfirings between cylinder 1 and 2. Had the ignition coils, wires and spark plugs replaced on both cylinders, cleared codes, CEL is gone and my car is up and running again! Saved me a trip to my local mechanic to have it looked at and having to pay $150 for their “full” point-to-point inspections before having any work done. Save some money and buy this tool! It’ll help you easily to decide whether or not you even need to have your vehicle serviced professionally either by your local shop or dealership whom will constantly up sell you or rip you off regardless of the issue, JUST BUY IT!

Saved me hundreds
This OBD reader has saved myself (and coworkers) hundreds of dollars. I do a lot of my own maintenance work on my cars, in some instances I can do the repairs and some I take it to a shop. Knowing the code before showing up to the shop may save you a lot of money. I will explain below. Even if you don't do a lot of mechanics this is a good little tool to have. I decided to get one after my wife had a check engine light come on, she took it to a dealer and paid the $30.00 fee to have it diagnosed. They said it was an exhaust system sensor malfunction and a big portion of the exhaust was needing replacement, this repair was quoted at $800.00. We could not afford that at the time so that night I came to Amazon and purchased this unit as it was quick shipping and a decent price. It came in a few days. I plugged it into my wife's car and was shocked when I saw that the check engine light was due to the gas cap not being on right after she refueled the morning it turned on. I literally walked to the drivers side unscrewed and screwed the cap back in and bam light turned off. I am not saying all mechanics are sketchy, but this saved us hundreds. I have since used it for co-workers who have had lights come on. I have helped them replace parts as well. My Recommendation: I would recommend, even if used once every so often you could be potentially saving yourself a lot of money.

Decent product for the price.
This unit seems to work as intended. Have used on several vehicles and has connected and displayed the expected result. If there is a problem the text displayed if extremely small and 20 years ago I would have had not problem, but I definitely cannot read any of it without reading glasses. This aside it seems to be a good value and does the job.

Great Universal Auto Scanner at a Really Good Price
The "Automotive Engine Fault Code Reader" by OBDScar is exactly what I needed... a simple inexpensive way for me to know what was wrong with my cars BEFORE they went into service. This way I could make sure the mechanic wasn't selling me a bag of sh*t. Seriously, the OBDScar reader is really easy to use and to read. The cord is long enough that I don't have to hang out under my dash to read it and it has a bright color LCD for its readouts. The menu structure is simple and easy to navigate. Now I'm able to clear codes and reset some monitors instead of taking it to the dealer or my mechanic. This has saved me money and given me peace of mind. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Easy to Use. Good Value for the Price
I ordered this about a month and a half ago. I wanted to use it a few times before giving a review. I have 2 vehicles and the reader seems to work accurately and easily. If you work on cars even a little bit, (which is me) it's well worth it to have one of these so you're not running back and forth to the auto parts store to see if a code fully went away after disconnecting the battery/resetting the ecu during repairs. I might even get a second one to keep in both vehicles!

LIMITED USAGE FOR CERTAIN VEHICLE'S. BUYER READ ALL SMALL PRINT.
The interface is fairly intuitive and, once you have the hang of it, easy to navigate. Update on scan tool. I was checking my fuses and had two blown on GMC. Once replaced the scan tool worked. And I now have found out what my problems are with truck. The tool works well but some things aren't supported. If you want all the abilities to test the vehicle, you'll need a different OBD

Wish I'd bought one sooner
There are more expensive OBDC scanners that do a lot more than this, but one use and I considered this paid for. The 'Service Engine Soon' message showed up on the dash of my 2002 325i. I knew I needed new spark plugs (based on mileage) and when I looked under the hood to change them (something I haven't done myself since college), I also saw that the hose connection at the air filter had come loose, and in fact, disconnected when I touched it. Put everything back together properly (including new plugs). When this unit arrived, I ran the diagnostic and it reported the air leak and that the engine had been running lean- the lean error likely coming from the air leak. Used the device to reset the check engine light (erase codes) and ran the engine for awhile- light has stayed out. What $35 got me- 1. assurance that I found and fixed the cause, and 2. savings in money and time- the service station would have charged me more than $35 just to reconnect the hose that they most likely did not reconnect correctly the last time my car was there. There were some functions that the OS601 claimed were not available from my car- whether they truly are not sent by my vehicle or it is a weakness of the OS601 I do not know, since I have not compared it to any other scanner. I got what I needed today.
