YES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN
I never thought I would ever be able to play the “real” RCT game again, but I was hopeful when this “Classic”-branded title was announced for the Switch. This edition definitely satisfies my nostalgia for the PC version – it truly does bring back the feeling of playing the original RCT computer game. One of the most important things to know is that for the price you get a TON of content. You get almost all of the park scenarios from RCT 1, RCT 2, Added Attractions, Loopy Landscapes, Wacky Worlds, and Time Twister – over 130 scenarios to play. But be warned the majority of them have to be unlocked a few at a time by beating the available scenarios. The other thing to keep in mind is that this is the original game, so all the things you liked about the original game you will still love, but all the things you found frustrating about the original game will still irritate you. As far as it being on the Switch instead of a PC, one helpful feature is the ability to use the X and Y buttons to jump directly to the Staff and Build menus without having to move the cursor all the way across the screen. On the other hand the tutorial for new players isn’t as helpful as tutorials I’ve seen on other simulator Switch games, but I imagine this title is meant for those who have played the original RCT which means you won’t need a tutorial anyway, just dive right in and it will come back to you. The biggest complaint I have about this version is it doesn’t have the “scenario editor” that allowed you to pre-design an entire scenario from scratch on your own, which was available in the PC version. (Hopefully a “RCT Scenario Maker” title will be coming soon??) But at least this version does have a Ride Designer that lets you make coasters in an off-line mode (rather than having to build them while the scenario clock is ticking) and save them for use in the scenario parks. But keep in mind you can’t change their default metrics, i.e. you can’t edit the names or intensities of the Motion Simulator or 3D Cinema shows, etc. Finally and most importantly, be warned that once you have a really big park with a lot of guests, the frame rate can slow down to the point where it’s very hard to get the cursor over the precise part of the screen you want to select, but if you move your view away from the park, the accuracy is restored. As long as you keep that in mind, you will enjoy this, as it really does come extremely close to recreating the experience of the original PC game. It’s time to party like it’s 1999!

Blast from the past!
I absolutely love this game. It is a really fun blast from the bast and runs great on my basic switch lite. Very fun game that will give hours of enjoyment to those who like city builder type games.

So happy I found this game!
Love this game. I played it so much on my PC in highschool and was pumped to find it for the switch. It took a minute to get used to the controls, and some of the fun features are gone (why was it so fun to clean ip vomit??). However I love playing it and my kids are lovinf it too.

Just like you remembered
Yes! Bring back my classic game on my new console! I’ve loved this game growing up and I love it now. The game play is the same as it usually is: classic! The switch console play you have to get used to. Keep in mind it’s to be played on a smaller device so everything has a smaller perspective. Loved it then and love it now!

Exactly as you remember.
If you had this on your PC this is exactly the same as you remember. It take a bit of time to get used to the controls as your are not using a mouse but overall game play matches the original. Other that a few small glitches at times (IE building a ride and then it not moving with the control, just have to close out the build option and reopen). It does lag a bit when fully zoomed out but is smooth operation when zoomed in anything but all the way out.

Oh the nostalgia
Buy it, just do it. Exactly like the computer version we played as kids. Kind of hard to get used to playing on the switch vs a computer, but amazing nonetheless.

Complete nostalgia. The controls take a minute to adjust to but it’s exactly as I remember otherwise.

I bought it more for collecting as its a childhood game I love. True to the original, just hard to use a controller for this type of game.

Great game, and even better on the switch.
