Works Exceptionally Well
The Golden Gate F-3303 is intended for extending the nut on resonator guitars that are ordinarily set up for fretting. In other words, this is a device that allows the player of a round neck resonator to set up the instrument for square neck-style lap playing. With this extension nut, the player can change back and forth from having the instrument set up for fretting (or a combination of fretting and slide playing) or alternately for steel bar playing. The buyer needs to realize that although the extender simply fits non-obtrusively over the top of the guitar's regular nut, you must slacken the strings in order to make the switch. In other words, it's not something that you're going to be able to do in between songs at a gig. However, the Golden Gate is very sturdy, seems to fit a wide variety of string gauges, and changes the guitar's intonation set up very little. Do note, though, that because changing the angle of the strings from bridge to nut also changes the length of the scale ever so slightly, tuning the open strings perfectly in tune means that the frets will not mark 100% precisely where the touched notes need to be played. Since so much of slide playing relies on the ear and not on precise visual placement of the bar directly over the frets, it is not a problem. This device is ideal for the players who plan to do, say, some Delta blues with a combination of fretting and use of an over-the-finger slide (normal, short nut setup), and then maybe work on Bluegrass lap-style resonator playing in the future. It's not for someone who is going to change set up hour by hour or day by day. The only way you could probably do that would be to own two instruments. If you don't need to make quick, frequent setup changes and don't want to own two resonator guitars, the Golden Gate F-3303 does the trick! At less than $10 compared with the price of a second resonator guitar, it's a no brainer.

Experimental is what I was looking for...
Got this to test out on my electric guitar... It's a bit wide... Spreads the strings out to the edge of the neck... Once installed you can no longer fret the strings with your fingers... Makes it fun to play your guitar in your lap with a slide... It's not too weird to play with a slide holding the guitar as you normally would... For the price it's something to mess around with and experiment... That's what I was looking for as I don't want to change the setup of my guitar... I wouldn't rely on it as an intrigal piece of my guitar as far as gigging goes... Fun to mess around with and see where ya wanna go... I could snag something from the hardware store and make something similar or just practice with this until I'm more confident playing with low action... For $7 it's worth messing with and making cool sounds if you're interested in playing slide guitar...

Needs significant modifications
Cool and it works with significant modifications. It is way too big, I’m not sure what guitar this fits? It is too so wide for an Epi Les Paul, SG or a Strat? High and low E strings hang over the sides of the fretboard. Wasn’t worth sending back so I filed it down and filed in seats for the correct string pattern on an SG? Hmm. Not sure I’d put that much work into it again, but it sounds good and works with the mods…

Slide on.
These little guys lift your strings a full 1/4" above the fret board at the nut. They look like a heavy gauge piece of stainless with clean slots cut for the strings. The alternative is a cast metal unit (looks like pot metal or Zemac) that in effect does the same thing but moves the strings up a fill 3/8" above the fret board at the nut. The 1/4" is plenty of space to use a heavy tone bar for slide. I've installed two of these both on acoustic guitars. No de-burring or adjustment to the slots was required. Can be installed by slacking off the strings and sliding the lifter under the strings and over the nut. Works great. They look better than the alternative.

Too wide (E strings hang way off the edge), and too high for any real slide/fret playing.
wayyy too wide for any of my guitars - teles, strats, lps. ALSO Raises the strings wayyy too high, so that you cant really also* play any fretted notes without them being pitched too high and also killing your fingers. I had to cut new grooves in this to accommodate the fact that as is, both E strings hang way off the edge of the fretboard, which means you can never fret those notes. This was a complete waste of time and money. I dont know what guitar they had in mind but no normal guitar will work with this item. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Must have item for guitarists who want to convert to slide.
I have several of these at all times available for rapid transit to high slide mode. This one provides a different height than the one I get from my local music shop and in many instances is more useful. Sure, it is possible to play slide with normal string height. If your name is Eric Trucks. But for us mere mortals, it is helpful to raise the action and this does the trick. Takes about one minute plus a bit of tuning time. Perfect cheap product to take your guitar playing to new heights!

This is great! But you have to realise what it is and how to use it. The longer side goes behind the nut ( headstock side) - it’s for lap steel so if you want to play standing up in open D with a slide, shim your nut with a business card, this is not for you. This will raise your action to 4mm off off the first fret - you also need to raise the bridge at the 12th fret so the action is 5mm or 6mm. That’s because the tone bar weighs down on the strings. Use a tone bar not a regular slide. Remember it’s not permanent and take care once fitted not to knock it from the side. It will move. It’s also wider than the average fretboard. This does not matter at all. The neck is for tension the frets are for reference. It’s wil play fine. Fit it with a set of Nashville strings fitted in the following order (not the way you normally fit Nashville strings) bass to treble : 26, 18, 14, 12, 10, 9 And tone to low C6 as follows - bass to treble: C E G A C E Your guitar is now a lap steel in standard lap steel C6 tuning so bring in the Hawaii or Country style lap steel guitar. Your regular electric guitar fitted with this nut, action raised as above, tuned to open C6 with Nashville strings will sound exactly like a real lap steel Here’s a demo of how to use it to vonertbyour guitar into a lap steel: https://youtu.be/ixT-7aHzWtg

Simple to install, and effective. This has made me much more comfortable learning to play slide guitar as I am no longer rattling the slide for the frets and fretboard.

mauvais, car espacements trop larges, rainures pas assez profondes, passez votre chemin !! allez voir sur Ebay, il y a mieux

Seems to work but really expensive for what it is, a right angled piece of metal with a few grooves in the top. Fitted it onto an Ozark resonator. Could have done with a diagram of which way to ,eventually decided to put the long arm over the nut and it seems to fit but really overpriced!
