I’ve been using this casein protein powder regularly and it’s been really good. The chocolate flavour tastes great and mixes well, especially for a thicker shake before bed. It’s a convenient way to add extra protein to the diet and the quality is what you’d expect from Optimum Nutrition. Overall a solid casein protein that I’m happy to keep buying.

Works well

This casein was purchased because I wanted a slow release protein that I could use after an evening workout. I am familiar with other products in the Gold Standard range, so for me this choice was a natural one. The taste is good, without tasting overly artificial like some other proteins. Like most supplements it does take a little getting used to the taste and consistency, however I would now rank the Chocolate flavour as my favourite. The only criticism I have (hence the 4 stars) is that it does not mix as easily as whey protein. I'm not sure if this is true of all casein products or just this flavour. With that said, it does mix 100% in the end, it just need a bit more shaking than normal and also ends up being a thicker consistency than others, meaning more water also needs to be added. Not really a downside, just something to note. This has a small knock-on effect of cleaning being a little harder to. Recommended.

My first attempt to make a protein shake with this Casein powder wasn't very successful, as it doesn't dissolve as well as whey protein, even with a shaker (I found that mixing it first in a bowl/glass with a small amount of liquid then adding more liquid is easier to dissolve it properly. I actually took advantage of the thick-high absorbing properties to use it to make protein pudding, with the following proportions: 20g of casein powder, 70ml of unsweetened almond milk (or other milk), 50g of fat-free yogurt, 3g of unsweetened cocoa powder, 5g of peanut butter, mix well and chill in the fridge for 30min at least, it will get smoother and thicken even more resulting in a delicious chocolate peanut butter mousse/pudding. It tastes like an indulgent dessert for only150kcal : 21g protein, 6g carbs of which 3g of sugar, 4g of fat (good unsaturated fat from the peanut butter). Being low in sugar, it's healthier than most desserts and it has also replaced my usual chocolate fix! I agree with another customer on a kind of "cappuccino"-like smell of the dry powder, but once dissolved the chocolate taste is nice. I have also tried the vanilla as a sample, which tastes like vanilla ice cream. Both are properly sweetened for most people taste I think, however I have cut my sugar consumption for the past two months and being more sensitive to any sweetness, I now find it a bit too sweet to my taste, but I will keep buying it anyway.

I have been making porridge using protein powders for years, I used to do it as a neccersary evil to make a quick, healthy breakfast that would keep me going. However, in the past I have found other powders to lack in sweetness and they go all clumpy when cooked. I would end up having to add extra honey or sugar to make it enjoyable but the texture was still naff. It was only on an off chance I tried this when I managed to get a cheap bag as it was nearly out of date and it took my porridge to another level. Now I actually look forward to it in the mornings and would choose it over any cereal, the best thing is I dont even need to add any extra sweetness! If anyone is interested in how I make it, as I have perfected it for my taste over time I do this: 40g oats 300ml milk/soya milk 1 scoop of this -Shake the milk and powder like you normally would a protein shake, -Pour over the oats in a big breakfast bowl -Cook for 3 mins in microwave (750w) -Stir -Cook for a further min and check. This ends up being quite runny but thats how I like it, obviously for extra thickness just keep adding 30 secs, just be careful that it doesn't expand over the top which has happened to me many times. ENJOY!

Prime proteine di fascia alta che provo.. Veramente ottime. Non ho mai dato importanza al gusto e la miscelabilità ma al risparmio. Ho voluto per una volta provare un prodotto con un costo maggiore ma devo dire che ne vale ogni centesimo. Già aprendo il barattolo si sprigiona un profumo ottimo. Non è necessario lo shaker in quanto anche in un bicchiere con due giri di cucchiaino sono già perfettamente miscelate. In ultimo, il gusto è eccezionale e rimane nel palato molto a lungo. Assumendole la sera, al mattino mi sveglio con un discreto senso di sazietà. Le consiglio.

de loin la meilleure caséine que j'ai gouté ,whey et caséine confondue, elle n'est pas trop sucrée pas écoeurante digeste, rassasiante un peu épaisse mais j'aime cette texture je la consomme comme une crème et non comme un milk shake .Je recommande
