Ron Howard's Academy Award-winning take on the Apollo 13 story. The mission, manned by astronauts Lovell (Tom Hanks), Swigert (Kevin Bacon) and Haise (Bill Paxton), starts out as a routine space flight which generates little media interest. But all that changes when an oxygen tank explosion cripples the ship and prompts the famous line, 'Houston, we have a problem'. Now Lovell and his crew have to struggle to keep going, while at Mission Control their colleagues Kranz (Ed Harris) and Mattingly (Gary Sinise) do everything they can to bring them home. Times when I forgot to breathe.
An amazing film. I have watchedit many times over. Superb sound track. Great acting. Excellent script, much of it transcripted from recorded dialogue. Some of the effects are now dated but others are stunning.

Great space film, great science film
No other movie I know does such a good job of showing how teamwork - not genius individuals - solves problems and save lives, and it also sticks very close to the true story. Although it's not Lovell - played by Hanks - but Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon in the film) who originally said "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here" (rather than the Hollywood version, "Houston we have a problem")

Great film that id seen before but looks even more amazing in 4K. Sounds fantastic as well.

Breathtaking
An exciting, nail-biting and exhilarating doomed trip to the moon and back with director Ron Howard in the pilot's seat and a very able cast to help see it through. An unforgettable ride with many scenes filmed at 20 second bursts on NASAs 'Vomit Comet' where real zero gravity was achieved. Tear-jerking and triumphant, never dull and sprinkled with humour. For me the brilliant Kathleen Quinlan steals the show, however; from her famous husband's shadow she emerges as vulnerable, strong and determined (". . .if they have a problem with that they can take it up with my husband; he'll be back on Friday.") Absolute 10 out of 10.
