Great product that fit our needs perfectly!
I am so very thankful to have found this Able Life Bedside Extend-a-Rail. I searched and researched and looked at so many different options for my grandma who is in her 90s before deciding on this item. She needed a little help to stabilize her when she got in and out of bed, and also to prevent roll-over falls, but we didn't want to get her a full hospital bed set up or the longer rails. We found that this item was well-priced, and easy to install (it is secured under the mattress so it isn't so intrusive on the bed for her), and it works perfectly for her! She is using it to lift up and down in her bed and at night it adds extra security from falling. One things we did is put a small rectangular pillow against it for added softness and it works great. I am very pleased that this type of item is available and would highly recommend it to anyone who has a similar situation to ours.

A Must Have for Safety
I came across this product after looking for something compact, yet sturdy, as a safety measure for my mom while she slept. As an avid "mover" in her sleep, I was concerned for her safety when it came to her falling out of her bed. The expandable railing offers great protection, and also an assist when it comes to helping her get out of the bed. A great product and easy to assemble!! Highly recommend!!

This really does help getting out of bed after a surgery or injury
Once this is setup it really helps after an upper body injury or surgery. Getting the mattress out of the way it's quite easy to set this up. The straps really help the whole thing stay in place. Very sturdy and it didn't shift at all while using it. If you are going to need something like this I do recommend it.

Easy to install but metal could be sturdier
The rail works as designed. My husband uses it to get in and out of bed after a back surgery because he lacks the back muscle control without the assist of the bar, so he often uses it to pull his full weight with his arms. The metal is hollow and has not bent, but his 170 # weight gives it a good pull. I hope it continues to do its job.

Effective and sturdy bed rail
This product is easy to install and very sturdy. As I have PTSD and thrash around at night or try and sleep walk. The rail with the extra length is perfect. It prevents me from falling out of bed or it alerts me to sleep walking by hindering my progress to leave the bed. It stay in place very well as I have bounced off of it pretty hard a few times already and I weigh 233 lbs. You can extended or retract the extra rail easily with the small button on top. But as your motor skills are impaired while sleep walking I have found that I have not bypassed this simple but effective design. And making the bed and changing linen is no problem as its size in the non-extended position and way it fits against the mattress make it easy to work around.

Excellent bedrails
I bought two bed rails for my 92 yr old parents several months ago. They really like the bed rails because they feel safe in bed now and because they can lean on the bed rails to get in and out of bed which really helps them. They don't extend the rails because (1) they cannot fall out of bed with the rail in the non-extended position, (2) it requires too much strength to slide the rail in and out (WD40 is helpful) and (3) they need the open space to get in and out of bed. I also bought the canvas attachment for magazines, remotes, etc. It is OK but hard to attach because it is a very tight fit, the pockets are restricted, very tight. It does hold a Comcast remote. The mftr needs to make the canvas attachment a half inch larger so it fits easily and so pockets can hold larger items. I put a shoulder bag over one of the bedrails and that works well (see pic). Here's how one person can install the bedrails without removing the mattress. First read the instructions! Important info about where to position the bed rail to prevent injury. 1) Lay the bedrail on the floor by the bed 2) Put the strap through the bedrail 3) Get a yardstick, broom handle, PVC pipe or any long pole type object (a yardstick works best since it's flat) 4) Tape the end of the strap to the end of the yardstick 5) Lift up the corner of the mattress and push the yardstick as far as possible to the other side. 6) Walk to the other side of the bed, lift the corner of the mattress and pull the yardstick to you. 7) Secure the strap to the bed frame

Be prepared to make a trip to the hardware store for the parts not in the box.
Part of the assembly is to attach the poles that slide under the mattress to the guard rail itself. You slide the two pieces together and place a bolt through the pre-drilled holes and screw on the nut. This is how the two main pieces go together, this is a vital part of the assembly. What do I get? A threaded bolt-great and an unthreaded bolt. You can't screw a nut on an unthreaded bolt. Without the nut, the bolt does not stay in place. So only half of the assembly could be completed and I had to make a run to the hardware store to get the missing threaded bolt. Maybe this sounds petty, but really? I paid $89 dollars for a rail, 2 poles, a strap and TWO threaded bolts. It' not like they had to keep track of a hundred parts that have to go in the box-they had to track 6 pieces. I'm giving it 3 stars only because the rail itself seems sturdy, I deducted 2 stars for the inconvenience of the trip to the hardware store and not being able to use it the night I got it.

We have been using the product for over a year. And we are fully satisfied. So when one more family member needed the support of bed side side railing, we went for the tested and proven brand.

This was exactly as shown. Although the strap gave me some trouble as the instructions weren't clear enough for me, my mechanic husband figured it out and fixed it for me. I love that it will assist my sister when she's getting in and out of bed,but it will also protect her from falling out as her dementia worsens. Highly recommend
