Now I Can Grow Sweet Red Peppers
This is great potting soil. We purchased 4 red pepper plants at our local nursery. Two plants went in the garden. The other two pepper plants went in a very large planter with half garden soil and half Miracle-Gro Garden Soil. The two pepper plants in the planter were in the front of the house where they got more morning sun. The two pepper plants in the garden got ample afternoon sun. Our tomato plants are doing great so I know there's enough sun. I might add that my husband amended the soil before planting as he always does. We have a great garden but peppers have always been a challenge for us. They just don't grow fast enough or big enough to produce much, if any nice fruit. Well, the two pepper plants in the garden were just kind of sitting there doing nothing and my husband was about to give up on them. I dug them out of the garden very carefully so the roots weren't damaged and planted each one in a one gallon container filled with pure moisture control potting mix. I set the two planters next to the one large planter in the front of the house containing the other two pepper plants. I thought those two pepper plants were doing well. Wow...you should see all four plants now. The two in the one huge planter are still doing very well and have nice good size peppers that are starting to show some color change. BUT.....the two weakling pepper plants that I put in the potting soil did a 100% turn around and started growing like crazy. The foliage is much greener in color, the plants caught up with them in fruit bearing. I've got nice big green peppers on them that look like I'll be seeing a color change coming on soon. I'm going to get a great harvest of red peppers this year. Next year I'm putting each pepper plant in it's own one gallon planter filled with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix. Finally...I can grow big ripe sweet red peppers.

FIRST, instead of a green thumb, I have more of a black thumb.... UPDATE!!!
UPDATE: It's now SEPT, my plants ARE THRIVING. AMAZING how lush they look. Great soil. The plants in them are healthy, growing fast. I know very little about plants, but have a friend who does and mine are mostly in shade, so she picked the right kind for that amount or lack of sun. She had even found a plant just growing wild behind a shed here and repotted in this soil, and it started flowering. SO YES, I will always get this kind. _________________________________________________ I wanted a good sized pot of plants near my entryway and got this soil, put it in a large pot and a friend picked up some plants and planted for me, but I had to keep them alive. They're THRIVING. I just water them. EXCELLENT RICH SOIL. For gardening novices or those who have trouble keeping plants alive, I would suggest this and the price was right too.

Swampy soil
I've been using this moisture control soil for a few years now. This soil claims to give your plants the right balance of moisture, but I've always found that this soil holds moisture for longer than you may want. Be careful with plants in this soil that don't like to be flooded and are prone to root rot. I have damaged a few of my plants from root rot in this soil because this dense soil will hold moisture for longer than I ever expected. I've learned my lesson a few times, and NEVER plant a succulent in this soil. This soil is also surprisingly dense when wet. If you tightly pack your pot, the soil may never dry out. You can tell when watering your plant and the water just sits on top of the soil as if it doesn't want to drain. I've found that if this happens you have to "aerate" the soil with a fork to loosen it up. On the contrary, this soil has been great for my plants who like wet environments. My pothos and spider plants are thriving in this soil! I water once about every two weeks and I've never had to worry about that plants drying out. One word of caution is that because this soil stays wet for a long time it is prone to attracting gnats and fruit flies. I have had to battle an infestation the last summer only to find out that these bugs were attracted to the wet soil in my plants. I ended up dusting the top layer of soil with diatomaceous earth to combat the bugs. Overall, this soil is okay, but don't believe the claim that it will prevent "overwatering". This soil loves to stay wet and you need to be wary about root rot on your plants.
