Digital Masterclass
Book has excellent tips and I written in a professional manner. Additional critique about pix could have made the book even better.

Great text for supplementing your photography studies
I bought this after checking a copy out of the library. It's got great information, including actionable exercises you can do with your camera that will help you get the results you want in your shots. It covers everything from the basics of exposure to composition to post-processing.

A great read for students of photography
I found the book informative and concise. I especially like the assignments and the sample photos. Sample photos provided the shutter speed, f-stop, and iso numbers which were very helpful. It frees the student of photography from some of the conventional wisdoms. I thank Mr. Ang for sharing his expertise with the readers. I strongly recommend this book.

But how you benefit from it is in your hand
Experience is the best teacher. It's a great book to have at hand. But how you benefit from it is in your hand. Even if you read lots of books on how to swim, you will not learn unless you go into the water. Honest advise, replicate samples of picture composition of Tom Ang from his book. Get a notebook and write down the formula (speed, opening, lens, files number, etc) and you will learn a lot. Or simply write down info in word doc with your photo. Now you have an ebook of your own :) Check 1x.com - best photo site I discover

A good buy
Photography books can be expensive and many times not very helpful. This book is neither and you can be comfortable buying it if you are a amateur photographer who has been taking pictures for awhile.Masterclass may be stretching it a bit. But it is a really beautiful and easy to understand book that can help push you forward if you have got a grasp on the basics of hobbyist photography.

I feel this book is a comprehensive guide to learn digital photography. It has got right balance between text and picture, nicely arranged topics and supporting pictures, insight and phtographs of other ace photographers. Indeed a delight to read it and practice along the way.

I saw this book the other day at a store and balked at their price and so I came home to order it online. Behold, not only is it cheaper, I found out there is a revised edition!! The book itself is great with great pictures that explain what it is your should be seeing in a photo. It has boxes and arrows breaking down various things in a single photo to train you on what you should be observing when you are out on the field yourself. You can find better and more detailed reviews on amazon.com, but I love this book!

This is an excellent book for photographers of all levels. I bought one for myself originally as the reviews gave me confidence that I would learn a lot from it and enjoy doing so. I have limited technical knowledge but I do enjoy taking a good picture. The only problem is getting to read the book as the other (very experienced) photographer in our household kept borrowing it as he too thought it was excellent. When I did manage to finally get my hands on it I discovered that it is all I hoped it would be - great for a relatively inexperienced photographer but will be useful as you progress in skill. I bought a copy for an adult nephew for Christmas as he is making good use of his digital SLR and he is delighted with it.

This book is beautifully laid out for the newbie and the master photographer. Simple ideas build to complex assignments, with each skill having several different ways of mastering it. We revisited this book just before each trip to find a new skill to try on the voyage.

Very intuitive book, one to keep for ever as there is so much to do and so much to learn. If you have been disappointed in the past with some books which maybe concentrate on beginner to intermediate, then this book will serve you well as Tom Ang assumes you have reasonable technical camera knowledge and some sort of photographers eye. He puts you through the paces but its well worth the ride!
