Convenient, simple, long battery life
I got this light because it uses batteries, NOT usb charging. I occasionally visit places without electricity (or convenient outlets even if they do have it), and can stock up on batteries for long power outages. Relying on usb charging would be silly if thinking about prepping. The CR123 battery gives 40 lumens for 14 hours and 350 lumens for 1 1/2 hrs. I've used mine for three weeks, just briefly each day bringing in firewood from the shed or checking the shop, and on a 5 day trip to a monastery in the mountains with no electricity where I used it more heavily in the early mornings and evenings. Still on the first CR123 battery. The lithium AA battery gives the same 40 lumens for the same 14 hours and 150 for 4 1/2 hours. 40 lumens is plenty for most of my uses but when I need more light, 350 is significantly more power. This light is small enough that I keep it clipped in my back pocket all day every day and it's not noticeable. It comes with low, blinking, and high settings, but you can change that easily, which I did, to get rid of the blinking and just have low and high, which are easily accessed: one click for low, one flash (not click) on and off and back on again for high. I think this is the best general use EDC flashlight I've ever had and I intend to get get a couple more to have around and as gifts. [edit] After another month of steady use of the Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA, I *highly* recommend this light. It's small enough to be conveniently carried clipped in the back pocket, powerful enough (low and high) to be useful in almost all situations, simple enough to adjust to settings that are most useful, and long-lasting enough to be extremely thrifty, AND it doesn't rely on the electrical grid but takes batteries (CR123, AA lithium, or AA alkaline) which are easy to carry as backup and last a LONG time with normal use. I've been using this light for almost two month, just brief use each day and am still on the first battery. It's shockproof and waterproof (or highly water-resistant), has a great cap clip (I use that feature all the time and it works beautifully as it's not too heavy for a ball cap), and the on-off clicker on the end-cap requires just the right pressure, unlike others I've had. This is easily the best ECS light I've ever had. Did I say that before? I should have said it in caps. Did I also mention that I highly recommend it? Yeah, I do. You will not regret getting this light. Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA

Absolutely Phenomenal.
This is a great light. It is competitively priced and is a nice size for pocket carry in men's jeans. I wear a slimmer cut pants (not skinny jeans lol) and there is no noticeable bulge in my pocket. The unboxing experience was plesant. Packaging was about standard, and was well put together. The light came with 1 CR123A (more about this later), 1 AA, the light (duh?), a pouch, and a wrist strap. I pocket carry this light only so I haven't used the pouch yet but it could be useful for storing things in and seems to be of good quality. Pros: Quite bright, with a nice balance between distance and width. The light can easily reach 200 ft or so while having a wide enough beam to provide good peripheral visibility. Durable (so far). I have already dropped it several times on concrete and other than a few scratches it works like a champ, although I expected this. The hat clip feature is useful. It is worth noting that the part of the clip contacting the bill of the hat is rounded over so it won't damage the front edge of the hat. Nice touch! The pocket clip is nice and sturdy, and I haven't had any issues with it sliding around or falling out throughout the day. The feature to be able to use AA batteries is awesome. I prefer to use a CR123A in order to achieve the full brightness, however it is very nice to have the option should I not have any CR123As on hand or if I don't feel like wasting the more expensive battery on a less demanding task. I imagine this feature would be very nice while camping or doing other things as AAs are far more prevalent and cheaper than CR123As. The tail switch is extremely easy to actuate while not turning on in my pocket easily. Strobe is also very easy to actuate (double tap). The end of the flashlight, near the bezel, is flattened on several sides so the light won't easily roll around. This is a nice detail. The lens and the glass (I believe it is acrylic of some sort) is recessed which is nice as it won't scratch or become damaged as easily. Cons: I would have liked for the pocket clip to carry a little further down in my pockets, as almost the entire screw on tail-cap portion sticks out. Although as long as you don't care about it being super concealed (it is just a flashlight after all) I can usually just tuck my shirt over it and it isn't much of an issue. I wish there was a way to possibly program the light to go High > Low > Strobe by single, double, and triple tapping. Currently, it is setup as High > Strobe > Low, and I find that I have to press it up against my clothing while actuating because the strobe function will turn on momentarily while switching to low which is quite blinding, especially when you need a lower amount of lumens to begin with. Not really a con, but the battery that came with the flashlight died very quickly, within the span of 1 week with not much use. However, I ordered a pack of 2 CR123As with the flashlight and the battery life of those are much improved. I have had the same battery in for about a month now with with moderate use and have had almost no visible reduction in lumens. Both of these cons are more nitpicks than anything. I very much enjoy this light, and can't wait to see how it holds up over time.

Favorite handheld light for everyday carry
Best handheld light in the game. What other light takes AA, AAA, or even cr123s? This one. It’s versatile, it’s rugged, and it accepts 3 different types of batteries! Truly an amazing light. Only downside is I do wish the lumens were just a tad bit higher. Other than that, it’s still plenty bright for most tasks.

Great little light
This is a decent little light to keep in the pocket for EDC or work. It’s bright enough to do what I need it to working 2nd shift doing military base security, and the low light settings are good for checking IDs so you don’t blind the driver of the vehicle at your gate. This light takes one battery at a time of a CR123 or AA and has the ability to run at a longer pace than my older Protac II used to. It is compact enough to fit the hand or be clipped in a pocket, and I occasionally use the utility clip to place it on my body armor for easy access.

Absolutely WONDERFUL multi-fuel flashlight!!
This flashlight is the perfect EDC or work flashlight, as well as a great option for emergencies or backup. This flashlight is multi-fuel, so it will accept regular AA batteries, rechargeable batteries, CR123A lithium ion, etc. - the perfect setup for using whatever batteries you can easily find or have on hand. I LOVE that the flashlight is lightweight and only requires one battery, but you also get a pretty rugged design with this model that can take some drops, scrapes, rough use, and even water exposure. The flashlight is small with a sturdy and reliable clip, and it comes weight a small pouch that has a velcro strap for attaching to belt, MOLLE, backpacks, etc. The brightness is not anything that will knock your socks off (only 350 lumens for 1.5 hrs), but this is more than enough light and is really solid for only using one battery. It also has a low setting go 40 lumens with a run time of app. 14 hours. So, the final verdict: GREAT flashlight and reliable option for basically any purpose requiring a mediums lumen output of light! If you are on the edge, JUST BUY IT!!

Excellent quality and will last for years
I originally bought one of these about 10 years ago and have used it every day at work. After 10 years, it wouldn't come on and I thought it was broken so I bought another. After looking over the broken light, I was able to determine that the only thing wrong was the battery spring on the cap had become compressed after years of changing batteries. By stretching the spring back out, the light has worked perfect since. Other some missing paint due to dropping numerous times, this light has held up perfectly. I had already purchased a new one but wanted to keep it as a light around my house. Light is extremely bright and versatile due to accepting multiple battery types. I also love the reverse clip that allows you to clip the light on the bill of your hat and free up both of your hands.

Great light.
Love these flashlights. I have a dozen or so. Expensive, but reliable. The only issue is loosing them when you carry one all the time. Dual fuel 123 or double AA. Using the 123 battery makes it too bright for my purposes so I run double A battery for a little less intensity. Carries well.
