Excellent product for my little Spicy I adopted as a kitten. I spent a great deal on vet visits and eye drops, ointments and pills that only would help, if at all, for a few weeks to a few months. Her eyes would tear and irritate her to the point she would rub and rub. Then her third eyelid would come out and swell up like a cherry to the point she couldn’t see and hide. Sometimes in both eyes. Her whole disposition would change. You could tell it hurt and made her withdraw. I was mortified and knew I had to take her to the vet right away. She was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and a herpes disease that is very common in shelters and rescue facilities where kitties are. I was never told this when adopting her or I would have had the adoption facility explain to me exactly what she had and had them treat her property. I was given all these meds, going back and forth to vets and specialist for her eyes. Nothing helped long term. I was extremely frustrated and upset. I felt I had to do my own research to help my little baby, where the vet doctors failed her in their treatments. That’s when I came across Vetri Lysine Plus. I read the reviews and did research on it. Decided to Ordered it. Hoping it would help her. She loved the taste and ate it in small pieces I gave her. It helped her tremendously. I give it to her twice a day. She now runs around the house and plays. She’s a very happy kitty. If only the vets told me about this product, it could have saved me time, money and the pain my little Spicy endured and went through. She does get a flare up once in awhile, but nothing compared to before. I will continue to use it, and very thankful for VetriScience for making a very good product for cat owners like me and my little Spicy.

I have been purchasing this brand now for about two years consistently. I give it to both my senior aged cats; they seem to enjoy the flavor of the chews as they announce it if I miss a "dose". I give them two a piece everyday and they seem to benefit from it. I am not sure if health wise it actually does much for them, but they seem relatively healthy year round and I would like to believe that also has to do with giving them supplements to avoid illness. They are indoor cats also and enjoy a metabolic food along with this supplementation. The price on Amazon varies between +/- $10 it seems, so for 360 chews it is a good price; if you shop around (as most of us do) you may find this a lttle bit cheaper, but when you add in the shipping that's what gets you. In my case I enjoy Amazon Prime year round, so my shipping is usually included without the additional cost to offset my calculations. Try it, your cats might love it too!

So...I have two cats with Feline Herpes, one only sneezes, the other has constant discharge that leads to a clogged nose as well as continuing bladder infections that cause him to pee all over the house and/or urinate blood. Obviously, the latter problem is the most serious (and the most painful for my cat), and I have taken him to the vet many times for antibiotics, only to have the bladder problem almost immediately return. After reading content online about how feline herpes can attack the immune system, and how many afflicted cats get secondary bacterial infections, I thought, hmmmm....maybe my cats chronic bladder infections are an indirect result of the herpes virus. So...I went online and bought these, not thinking that they would work, but...they did! Although my cat still has some nose stuffiness, it is far less severe than it was before,he no longer sneezes, and I can keep items on the floor like a normal person without him peeing in them. All in all, I would say a great purchase. These chews won't cure your cat, but you will definitely see an improvement in his condition. Also, my cat seems to love them, so that is a plus. In sum, I HIGHLY recommend.

This was prescribed by the vet eye specialist to replace lysine eye drops for my cat's congenital herpes eye infection. Within a week she was urinating excessively (7-8 times a day, large volumes) and her blood creatinine level had doubled (from 1.7 three months earlier to 3.6) with a comparable increase in her BUN. She wasn't wild about the taste of the treats to begin with, and basically refused to eat them after 3 weeks. She is feeling better and urinating less (4 days after stopping them). A Google search brings up reports of lysine assocated with acute kidney injury.

We adopted a cat from the Humane Society and learned later that she has Feline Herpes Virus in one eye. The stress of moving and going to the doctor for her viral culture, etc, caused the herpes to flair up big time: weeping, squinting, ocular drainage, the works. We started her on Vetri Lysine Plus, two treats twice daily, and her eye has cleared up completely. It took a couple of weeks, but the difference is significant. It's not an overnight cure. L-Lysine works by inhibiting the virus' ability to reproduce, so active virus cells have to die off before symptoms improve. Lysine supplementation should continue for the life of the cat to help prevent recurrent outbreaks. Update/ 9-15-14 The company has changed the packaging for this product, and the new pouches do not seal. The zip-lock peels off of one side of the pouch making it impossible to reseal the package. I have to fold up the pouch and put it inside a quart-size freezer bag to keep it fresh. The product itself is still great but, please, fix this problem!

My 2 cats take Lysine & it has been an excellent product keeping my cats well for over 6 years. This time they would not eat it at all. It looks similar, but it is a light brown instead of dark brown like before. I smelled it. Instead of smelling like beef bullion it smells like cookie dough. I opened the second bag & it also smells like cookie dough. VetriScience shapes all their cat medicines like fish, so I have no idea WHAT IS IN these bags. I used up the last order before I opened the new order and missed the return window. I am very UNHAPPY.

As usual Sally our beloved fat ginger feline loves these. Worth the price and has fabulous health benefits especially for cats that are a bit poorly or have a compromised immune system from the latent feline herpes virus.
