Does the Glasses Spacer leave my prescription glasses covered in small scratches?

No. The part that touches the prescription lenses is soft silicone.It will not scratch the prescription lenses.

What should I do if I find that I can't mount it and there is a large gap between the lens and the glasses spacer?

We have provided an installation video, which you can find on the details page. The gap is large because it is not fully aligned. You can move the glasses spacer slightly from side to side until the gap becomes smaller.
