I traced the noise back to the recirculating fan at the back of the machine which was spinning freely on it's axle. I managed to bodge it onto the spindle with a jubilee clip, which solved the problem for a while, but the fault kept returning. Faced with either trying a part or buying a new machine, I bit the bullet and bought this replacement part. Whilst it's a different colour to the original, it's the same shape and comes complete with a spring clip. Fitting only took a few minutes, and hey presto - a perfectly working drier again.
