A life saver for dry eyes. I use it at night and the effect is amazing.

As a professional photographer, I experience allergy-induced severe dry eyes during the start of allergy season. This review is for the ointment form of the product. Be sure to select ointment, not drops, at the Amazon product display during purchasing. I have been experiencing dry eye discomfort for the past 2.5 days, while using warm compresses, artificial tears, and taking allergy medication (180 mg fexofenadine HCl after breakfast and 25 mg diphenhydramine HCl after dinner). I previously used Alcon's Genteal ointment for severe dry eyes. While effective, I occasionally experienced minor discomfort, waking up with red eyes and ocular discharge, which dried overnight resulting in crust. Although circumstantial, I believe this has to do with lanolin in the anhydrous form. This is publicly listed in the ingredients section of the Genteal product: 3% mineral oil, 94% white petrolatum, and 3% anhydrous lanolin (inactive ingredient). Compare the active ingredients to Soothe: 20% mineral oil and 80% white petrolatum. Last night, I applied the first dose of Soothe ointment before bed and it was an instant relief! I did not experience any minor sting or wake up feeling normal. As I write this review in the following morning after first application, I reapplied the ointment after washing my face and using a warm compress. My vision has cleared up from the temporary blurriness, which is normal when applying an ointment to the corneal surface! I can use this product during the day and continue culling my images in Capture One Pro and finalizing them in Adobe Photoshop CC! My workday can return to normal without severe dry eye symptoms! Highly recommended.

Great to keep eyes moist. Just don't put a lot in and whip the cor er of your eyes. The ointment can get on your pillowcases.

Safe to use for eye irritation for both people & pets. Purchased this specifically to use for our two puppy's whose eye lashes are curling inward and irritating their corneas with our veterinary ophthalmologists blessing. It is working as we had hoped & so has allowed us to wait until they are older to determine if they will need to have entropion surgery (taking a wait & see approach is recommended unless it is an emergency situation, until they are at least a year old as they are still growing & the confirmation of their heads will change & may negate having to have this surgery). Since applying this ointment to both of their eyes several times throughout the day and evening to keep them well lubricated, we have had 3 follow-up appointments & our puppies ophthalmologist is quite pleased with the positive results for both of them, one of whom no longer needs to have this surgery. This ointment provides excellent relief for dry and irritated eyes. I use it every night before bed, and it makes my eyes feel much more comfortable and refreshed the next morning. This product is excellent! Make sure that you buy preservative free moisturizer for your eyes preservatives are not good for you! Always check with your eye doctor before using any product!

I appreciate that the soothe PM night gel is preservative-free. It really is a TINY bottle for a expensive price, though not as bad as others I have seen. My only problem with it is that it is too thick and firm to adequately spread through my eyeball. I have to warm it up before using it otherwise it just globs up and falls out of my eye when I blink. Once I get it in my eye, it does work to keep moisturized fairly well throughout the night.
