Excellent movie! Nice cinemotography, good story, funny, great acting, A very enjoyable movie you will enjoy time and time again!

This is definitely my favorite movie from Diane Lane or the my favorite movie The Diane Lane has starred in it's just a beautiful movie in general with the scenery the storyline just everything about this movie is absolutely gorgeous absolutely love this movie and would highly suggest it to anybody whether they like romances or not this woman literally had to rebuild her whole life it's just an unbelievably beautiful movie like I said I would highly recommend it

Great story

Diane Lane has always, even as a child reminded me of Natalie Wood. Both were child stars, both posses a similar beauty and way with a smile that turns up just so on the sides. Each is a multi-layered actress of considerable talent. And above all they have made me fall rapturously in love with them. My ability therefore to give a rational review of this film, "Under The Tuscan Sun" is reduced to that of a love struck thirteen year old boy. From the book of the same name by Frances Mayes the film is an altered and fresh look at the original. The direction and screenplay by Audrey Wells is top notch and she gives an insightful commentary on the DVD of her film. It is in her screenplay is where she really shines. She reshapes Mayes book into something magical and infuses it with the charm and glamour of Italy both in the flesh and in the movies. Vincent Riotta is the quite center to the story and is the romantic realist who gently leads Frances into her adventure in Italy. He commands your attention with a quiet and wise presence. Raoul Bova, one of the hottest stars in Italy brings just the right touch of romance and danger to his role as Marcello. In his final scene he is both honest and fair. Sandra Oh hits all the right notes of comedy and drama as Frances' best friend Patti. Her remark on the steaming toilet is a study in comedy timing. Well, she is a master as anyone who has seen her work on Arliss can attest. The wonderful discovery in this film for me is the British actress, Lindsay Duncan who portrays Katherine, the ex-Fellini star who is trapped like a fly in amber by her film past but lives for today within her celluloid cocoon. Adding her to the mix puts just the right touch of cinema magic into the story. I am looking forward to see what she does on the upcoming HBO series "Rome". Finally there is Miss Lane. Her work here is brilliant and filled with the grit and grime of a true actress at work. Yet it is seamless and so natural without a false move or an unsure moment. She inhabits Frances from frame one and caries her and the audience from her despair to rebirth and rejoicing in a new and unexpected life. Her eyes, her smile, her glowing skin become so real on the screen and we find we are given a gift from this actress of so many gifts. We are given the pure joy of watching her in the here and now inhabit a space in our hearts. With this film and her previous appearance in "Unfaithful" she joins the pantheon of stars that like Spencer Tracy, Ingrid Bergman, or Natalie Wood who make it all look so easy, so real.

好き過ぎてDVDで擦り切れる程、何度も見ている映画です。何気なく検索していたら、ブルーレイが出ている事を知り迷わず購入しました。この映画は、元気を取り戻してくれます。生きる事の素晴らしさを教えてくれます。辛い時や悩んで居る時や楽しく生活して居る時や料理を作りたい時や生きている証を知りたい時等々、全ての日常で隙間時間に見たい映画です。ダイアン・レインの演技は、格別で最高です。偽りの無い映画です。書籍も出版されています。幸福感に満たされます。あっ！映画の中で出てくる料理の神様は、検索しても見つかりませんでした。←余談。

Schlimmer hätte es für die erfolgreiche Autorin Frances nicht kommen können; sie findet heraus, dass ihr Mann sie betrügt, darf die letzten zwei Jahrzehnte ihres Liebeslebens als Totalverlust abhaken und sitzt jetzt mit Schreibblockade in einem trostlosen Appartmentblock voller Scheidungsopfer fest. Da kommt das Angebot des lesbischen Liebespärchens wie der sprichwörtliche Rettungsring - eine Bustour quer durch die Toskana. Frances rafft sich auf, macht sich auf die Reise und verliebt sich Knall auf Fall in ein heruntergekommenes Gehöft, das sie ebenso Knall auf Fall kauft. Von nun an wird alles anders, wenn auch auf steinigen Wegen. Die (sehr ansehnlichen) Männer, die in ihrer neuen Heimat selbigen Weg kreuzen, sind noch nicht "die Richtigen", ihre polnische Renovierungstruppe muss als Familienersatz herhalten (und ist mit ein Grund, warum ich diesen Film inwzischen innig liebe). Plötzlich taucht auch noch ihre beste Freundin auf, sitzen gelassener Teil eben jenes lesbischen Liebespärchens, das Frances überhaupt erst in die Toskana geschickt hat. Sie ist hochschwanger, braucht Frances' Hilfe und ist ebenso auf Zuwendung angewiesen wie der (ausgesprochen niedliche) Bauhelfer Pawel, der sich in eine lokale Jungfer verguckt hat und behutsam mit ihr zusammen gebracht werden muss... Ich habe das Buch, das dem Film zugrunde liegt, nicht gelesen und habe daher auch kein Problem mit etwaigen Freiheiten, die sich die Drehbuchautoren herausgenommen haben. Der Film lässt sich mit seiner Geschichte wohltuend viel Zeit, übertreibt es nicht mit der Idealisierung, ist voll wunderbarer Charaktere, die man ins Herz schließt, und er hat eine Heldin, die nicht mehr 20 Jahre alt sein muss, um ein Prachtweib zu sein. Na bitte - geht doch.

A great feel good film I can watch over again. Similar to ‘A good year’ and ‘French kiss’. Very enjoyable
