Im no good at forging myself because im a wood working guy sobi got the blank and made my own handle . The blank is real damascus and came to me sharp enough to shave with. Love it

Great starting point for a beginner. Blank is of great quality and the thickness is perfect. I’d’ve preferred a handle that could be imbedded into the handle with just the pins holding it together, vs a pre-shaped handle with scales but I believe I can modify one to suit my preference. The pattern on my example is gorgeous & for the price, buy a couple and have fun customizing it to your tastes.

I customized mine a little. I don't like to the pointed edge on the blade. For one, the pointed edge isn't good for slicing meat; it just scrapes. For slicing meat, the edge has to be continuous long. Put couple of holes just for aesthetic look. Handle is made with red cedar. Turned out okay. Tested it to dress a hog, work great.

Beautiful and exactly as portrayed. Just as a comment, I wish a smaller version of this design was offered for sale. I'd love one that could be carried day-to-day.

Not Damascus as advertised!! That being said I love the shape of this knife and I was able to get a very sharp edge on it. I don't know how its going to hold up though I have not had a chance to test it out in the field. I will try to update this review later. I is a shame that the pattern on the blade simply wiped off so it isn't even etched IT IS JUST PAINTED ON. I had no problem drilling through the tang to enlarge the pin holes as someone asked in the Q & A section, I needed to enlarge the hole so I could use Corbys. I put a very highly figured flame Maple handle on it and it looks amazing. Over all I can't complain because for the price and the little bit of work I had to do to make the handle the end result is a fairly wicked looking blade with a beautiful handle.

I had written my Frist review before I started to work on it. Boy was I ever wrong There were twists bends and delamination Steel was very soft. I haven't even tried to temper as I don't think with all the problems I had it going to help. Maybe it'll help with my layout for my own knife. Maybe you will have better luck than I.
