Best mouse for a Netbook PC
It's small, but more convenient for Netbook users. The biggest complaint about most Netbooks is the keyboard and the touchpad. Some manufacturer have addressed the keyboard by coming up with 10 inch screen with larger keys. The touchpad is another thing. Bigger keys force them to use smaller touchpad. I prefer a mouse for the simpler user interface. Drag and drop doesn't require me to click my left hand (I'm right handed). The small touchpad really makes this unbearable. The touchpad on a Netbook really serves a couple purposes. These are clicking webpage buttons and placing a cursor to location. The Netbook is a light use item; really used for internet surfing, e-mail, and lighter text editing. I use my touchpad for when I will only need to do simple thing. Other than that I tend to use the Nano and turn off the touchpad. I tend to move the cursor when I'm doing a lot of typing accidentally with the close quarters of the keyboard and touchpad area. Anyway geting back to the Nano. It's small enough to fit in a pocket if you want to take it along with your Netbook. In meeting the first requirement for Netbook use, it is small. However, when in use, you don't feel like you have a compromised from a full size mouse. I have the full size Revolution VX. It's an amazing mouse. Best mouse I've used. The quick scrolling is a feature that simply makes navigation through long documents a joy. You can quick scan as the document rolls by. And as you see where you want to stop, the wheel is so precise that is stops on a dime. Even if you let the stop scroll past your destination, you attain a feel for the scroll where you wheel back up and hit the brakes when you see where you want to stop. The only difference from my Revolution is the thumbwheel and the location of the back and forward wheel buttons. I never use the thumbwheel, mostly because the back and forward buttons are thumb operated and just above the wheel. These buttons on the Nana are index finger operated. What I like is these butting are so well designed that I've never mistakenly hit either of them when left clicking or navigated the in the wrong direction. Some have complained about the size of the wheel as too small. For me this is actually a blessing. Left to right scrolling by side bumping the wheel is much easier than on my Revolution. With a Netbook a simple way to sidescroll on a mouse is a great convenience with larger webpages not fitting onto a 10 inch screen width. This thing is a joy. I've had it for over 3 months and I've never had a problem or changed out a battery. The battery is right now at 75% so, I don't think I'll have to change them out for a while. It's a great mouse for any Notebook user; both small and powerful with features. For a Netbook user, it's a perfect match. Put your Nano in your pocket and your PC in a slipcase. On the go with few compromises from a larger Notebook with all the gadget in a heavy bag.

Good, Easy Mouse. Good Mighty Mouse replacement.
Okay, so i don't demand a lot from my mouse, but after getting used to apple's mighty mouse (which I really like with the exception of a few things) I haven't had much luck finding something that does what it does as easily or almost as easily in terms of the buttons and the scroll wheel. The VX nano has even more buttons and the interface works just right. Most importantly the wheel is smooth and the sideways scroll works better than on most mice I have tried. I find it more comfortable and compact than the mighty mice (I have bluetooth and corded versions). A good and cheaper replacement for the mighty mouse. Also the engineering put into the mouse is pretty nice. P.S. I use the nano reciever in my keyboard USB slot, not a main USB slot and it works great without eating up a powered USB. Why 4 stars? Still not perfect. Maybe this mouse with a mac-like scroll wheel that doesn't break or get dirty as easily as the mighty mouse and that is Bluetooth compatible would deserve 5 stars. Who will do it first? Mac or Logitech?

this little guy is a real sweetheart
I like this little thingy so much I'm going to have to come up with a name for it. This replaces the Logitech Revolution Logitech VX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks (Black) which had to be returned for some design/usage issues I had with it, and so far this is turning out to be exactly what I was looking for in a mouse. This mouse is used daily on my notebook which currently acts as my main computer. Installation was flawless and the receiver sticks out only 1/4 of an inch. So right now it is plugged in to one of the USB ports as opposed to the Revolution's receiver which is much bigger and which I had plugged in to a port on a Belkin 4-port hub (another great and useful little gizmo) Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra Mini Hub F5U407 . Also, the width of the receiver is minimal and doesn't interfere with the USB port right next to it in any way. I'm right-handed but this is an ambidextrous mouse. The back/forward buttons - which I can't seem to live without anymore - are easier for me to operate as they are accessed by the index finger instead of the thumb. For me that is much easier as I have arthritis fairly bad in my hands - especially my thumbs - and using my thumbs for anything is painful. The position of the back/forward button works well for me based on the size of my hand which is relatively small. To me, it's more intuitive to use the thumb instead of the index finger for the back button, and since my 2 previous mice had that feature, I had to get used to using the index finger instead. However, I'm more than happy to getting used to that as I don't have to worry about my thumb hurting anymore. The scroll wheel is a bit smaller than most scroll wheels but hasn't presented any problems at all. You can access 4 different scroll capabilities by pressing down on the scroll wheel. I currently have the button behind the scroll wheel programmed for "Close" but there's a multitude of other options available. The battery case (uses 2 "AAA" batteries) is easy to open with a little lever that pops it open underneath the mouse and that's where the receiver is stored. The on/off button is also underneath and there's a red LED on top of the mouse when the batteries are low/going out. I think the only negative I can think of is that it would have been nice to have the on/off button or at least a usage light located on top of the mouse as a reminder to turn it off. It's a little too small for my husband - as was the Revolution VX - but it's all about a matter of preference. I think it's pretty much a natural function to keep the palm of your hand on the table/surface area when using a mouse and how the various buttons work when you are in that usage mode is what will make the mouse good or bad for you. For me and my smaller hands and screwed-up thumb -- this works very well. I was planning to get a Bluetooth mouse for the netbook, MSI Wind U100-432US 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Black but am now seriously considering getting another one of these. UPDATE: Today is February 24, 2010, and I finally had to change out the AAA batteries in this mouse for the first time. Not too bad for longevity as I use the mouse constantly instead of the track pad on the laptop, and I can never remember to turn the mouse off so it's "on" 24/7. I'm just as happy with this little guy today as I was when I wrote the original review.
