I use La Valle San Marzano DOP Tomatoes to make my tomato sauce. This brand gives genuine, deep tomato flavor to my recipes. I crush these to make my sauce, add seasonings, tomato paste, and simmer to perfection. This makes a very rich sauce. I order these because I have not been able to find this brand in my local grocery store. I do see other reviewers mention purchasing at Trader Joes, but I do not live near that store. I see other reviewers complaining about dented cans, but I have seen dented canned goods in grocery stores, so I am not bothered if some cans are dented, unless there is data indicating we should not purchase can goods in dented cans. I am able to open these using my electric can opener. This is the top recommended D.O.P.-certified brand for making sauce. And I tasted why.

Truly a Better tomato for Italian cooking. Great for sauces. Just perfect.

I just got mine in yesterday and one can exploded while still in package now I have to throw all cans away because I can not return and I do not feel safe eating any of the others the expiration date is good. I am so sad but scared to order again

While the outside delivery box was in perfect condition all cans were dented.

Authentic DOP San Marzano tomatoes are a great choice for your Italian recipes calling for whole or puréed tomato. These come in a nice juice and include whole skinned tomatoes. The flavor is slightly acidic, so best used for pizza and other sauces that need a little bite to them. Not the best choice for sweet or creamy tomato sauces. A good value for this authentic, imported product.

These are the best genuine San Marzano tomatoes I can afford and they’re well worth the money. Be careful when buying products labeled “San Marzano”, read the labels looking for “D.O.P.” and the area where the tomatoes come from. Many companies mention San Marzano, but the tomatoes don’t come from there. San Marzano tomatoes are sweeter and richer in taste, there IS a difference. These are very good, at approx. $6.00 a can. You can get better for more $ but these are just fine. And I’ve bought a case of six many times and NONE OF THE CANS WERE DENTED. Seller is careful with the merchandise; each can was individually bubble wrapped.
