Inexpensive and Tasty
Really, urad is not known for its taste. This is not the first time I have bought this brand and item. This 4 pound bag yields many servings of this healthful, vegan dal. Dried dal keeps well in the pantry and we two find it lasts many months. Low cost and high quality with extremely few broken lentils and very little "bean dust" to rinse.

Great for Nepali bara!
I got these lentils to make bara, instead of the ones with the skin still on, because I didn't want to deal with taking the skins off myself. These make fantastic pancakes and it reminds me of my trip to Nepal that was sadly truncated by the pandemic. Anyone who wants a good savory and grain-free pancake recipe, these are a good option for a base.

Making Idli
For those who like the India passion for Idli I use Urad dal and short grain brown rice , soak separately for 6 hours , drai n water put thru food processor ferment ant bake thin in non stick muffin tins. Delicious and healthy

Good quality but pricy !!
Flavour is great .. quality is good , only problem is the high price! Same item is availale in local grocery for lot cheaper .. purchased only because trying to avoid going out due to lockdown.
