There is no question that when it has came down to the Super Mario Brothers games, they have definitely delivered every single time. Since 1985 when the original Super Mario Brothers debuted, gamers have gone wild for Mario & Luigi unlike any other game in the arcades and at home with the original NES. But with so many games and systems going and trying to do what Nintendo had done, Nintendo hadn't lost its edge. With the Nintendo 3DS, they delivered brilliantly last year with Super Mario 3D Land and reinvented the way Mario took the platform run and jump game brilliantly into 3D. The game definitely showed what Mario was made of like he every time was from start to finish. But through the game, we also saw a few elements that were taken on from Super Mario Brothers 3. Well that is shown again for the Nintendo 3DS. But is New Super Mario Brothers 2 worth the money? Absolutely. New Super Mario Brothers 2, continues the winning formula that made New Super Mario Brothers Wii and the original New Super Mario Brothers showed from the original Nintendo DS well, as Mario is back at it again, trying to rescue Princess Toadstool from the clutches of Bowser. This time, he isn't the one alone again. He has his kids, the Koopa Kids Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Larry and Roy with him. They are holding her in the wake of a massive coin crop where there are going to be more coins for Mario to grasp. But with it, the game shows a bigger challenge with new levels of excitement for Mario to explore, and classic enemies again like Renzor from Super Mario World and Dry Bones and Boo. The game takes you on 8 levels of madness and a star world that is just amazing to master. You also do have returning items including the mini-mushroom that makes Mario teeny but he is unable to fight his foes. Still, he can wade on water and leap quicker than the eye, and the might mega-mushroom which makes him king-sized to destroy anything from foes, and break pipes. It is like the invincible star, but also fierce. The game also features a few new power-ups in Mario's aid including the coin block, cap which will turn Mario's head into a coin factory that will keep adding coins and giving you 1-ups while playing. There is aldo the gold flower, which will turn you into Gold mario and Silver Luigi where you can fire at bricks and turn them into coins, and your foes and make them spit out and fire coins at you from Lakitu and the Hammer Brothers. The graphics are definitely worth their effort and stand out well. While the only flaw is the music by taking bits from New Super Mario Brothers Wii and not anything new to spin off of. The control remains as distinctive for you to play with Mario as you run and jump with great ease, and fly with the return of the raccoon leaf from Super Mario Brothers 3, that makes you flutter and fly in spots to grasp hard to reach coins. The fun is definitely great for seasoned Super Mario Brothers veterans as well as newcomers that have never played a Mario game yet. The learning curve might make it too easy for veterans to master at first like Super Mario 3D Land was, but the game is definitely addictive if you want to try and master the Coin Rush mode where you only have one life, to try and grasp as many coins as possible. All in all, there may be some gamers that might be turned off by New Super Mario Brothers 2, and more in wait for the upcoming New Super Mario Brothers U in regards to it being included with the Wii U soon. But I still definitely recommend New Super Mario Brothers 2 for the Nintendo 3DS and the new Nintendo 3DS XL. Not just because it is a great game, it still shows that some games and certain games have never lost their spirit with age. The Super Mario Brothers games have shown that for over 25 years ever since the NES came out. This one is definitely worth its money as a must buy for the Nintendo 3DS. A little repetative but..
You can't except much from the mario game that the mario thing existed sense 1985. Still overall fun too play with, the leaf as everybody knows is from mario 3(NES) but it appears on this recent game as well. Still its a great game, I'm not soo good at telling about reviews but what the hell. And the game isnt as much challaging as the old mario wii game because after you get killed so many times the white leaf appears and allows you too walk pass the level. If you want *NEW LEVELS* and sick of same old super mario wii levels then I surggeest you purpose the game from amaZoN, I seen on youtube, super mario bros frustation, look like the classic game but the levels are some how hacked an who ever hacked the game can make they own levels. All the game looks like is a hacked mario bros wii game with new courses and extra items. Super mario bros. the lost levels look like the original mario game except wind and poison mushroom, new courses, that includes world 9, A, B, C and world D.

This Was A Gold Rush!...Get It? (I know, I am not funny....)
Note: This is actually my first written game review ever so it might not be the best. But, overtime I should get better with the help of you guys. Before I get into this review, I will first like to point out that despite the name of the game, it is actually not the second one in the series. Let me explain: This is actually a direct sequel to New Super Mario Bros., released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS and is the third New Super Mario Bros. side-scroller, the second one being New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which came out on the wii. Hope that clears things up, now on to the review! This game marked my second main Mario game for the 3ds, the first being Super Mario 3d land. I wonder if this game could live up to 3d land and while it didn't, that does not mean I did not have a blast paying this game. Presentation: The story is a epic one. Its is about...well, I think we all know how the story goes so lets just skip right to the other things like unlike pervious Mario games, this has a heavier emphasis on coin-collecting than other Super Mario games, with multiple unique items dedicated to producing large amounts of coins. Anyway, from going from 3d to 2d, this game does not disappoint in terms of graphics. Sure, the 3d effect really does not do much to this game since it is 2d, and it doesn't even need the 3d to be able to play this game (unlike 3d land), but it does not take away from how beautiful this game is. All of the colors pop and just overall look amazing. This game has three game modes: Single, co-op, and coin rush mode. Coin Rush focuses exclusively on quickly completing a series of stages while collecting as many coins as possible. Thanks to the Nintendo Network, you can download dlc packs to expand your coin hunt. An interesting thing to point out is that New Super Mario Bros. 2 is not only the first Mario game to have dlc, but also the first Nintendo game overall to feature true downloadable content. Their are 10 dlc packs you can buy. Gameplay: New Super Mario Bros. 2 continues the style of gameplay from New Super Mario Bros, so if you played those game, you already know what you are getting yourself into. Eight worlds, beat Brower at the end. But, with added power ups that will help you collect more coins, like gold Mario which will allow you throw a gold fire ball and what ever it touches will turn into coins (by the way, I will like to point that besides beating the main game, you also have the goal to collect 1,000,000 coins, something that I did not even do yet). In co-op mode (which you have to have another copy of the game and another 3ds, your friend gets to play as Luigi and you get to go through the main game again, but this time, it is with a partner. I would of like it better if this co-op was online, but besides that, it does not take away from the game. Overall: The most disappointing aspect of New Super Mario Bros. 2 is that it’s remarkably easy, and doesn’t really elevate the series past what New Super Mario Bros. Wii managed to do. That is really my only complaint. If you haven't played a Mario game before (if that is the case, I wonder what you have been doing with your life lol), then this should be a good start and should put up a challenge. But for you veterans out their, even though it is easy, you still have to but this game because it is a lot of fun. Overall, this is a must buy and a great addition to your 3ds collection.

Fantastic - highly underrated
I absolutely love New Super Mario Bros. 2! There are so many hidden blocks and secrets - more than I can ever remember in a Mario game! The developers had a lot of fun with this one. Just thinking of getting one million coins is fun - it doesn't matter if there is a reward at the end, it just feels like a huge accomplishment - more than even completing the game! The only complaint I would have is that I miss the co-op star duel from the first game. My brother and I had a lot of fun for many hours with that one, and we were disappointed that it was not in this game as well. Creative, fun, and in 3D with the most imaginative side-scrolling levels I have ever played - you won't want to miss out on this game!

Much of the same game, except with new areas to play in.
I needed a good platformer to play. I was hoping this would sate my appetite. Sadly, it's not much different from New Super Mario Bros. or New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The game brings back all the same mechanics from the previous versions, including Super Mushrooms and Mini Mushrooms, but made a few changes to the game. They took out Yoshi and added a very familiar item from Mario Bros 3: the Raccoon Feather! They also added a few new items: the White Raccoon Feather, the Gold Mushroom, and the Gold Flower. First, the main emphasis of the game (as if the cover art wasn't clear enough already): gold coins. The gold mushroom just gives tons of gold coins, and the gold flower just turns everything into gold coins, including enemies and blocks. The game keeps a running total of how many gold coins you've collected, and the idea is to try to reach 1,000,000. The problem is, unless you go out of your way to get them, you'll probably get about 50,000 by the time you complete everything else there is to complete in the game. Which brings me to a new mode they introduce: Coin Rush! In Coin Rush, you start with 100 seconds, and they pick 3 random levels, fill it with coins, give you a gold flower, and have you try to get as many coins as you can. Whatever you collect is added to your running total. This is the ideal way to reach your 1,000,000 total since single games can get you 5000 or 10,000 or even more if you're really good at it. My guess is the 1,000,000 coin collecting is Nintendo's way of trying to add content to the game without actually adding content to the game. Those interested in what the reward is can look it up on their own, but I can guarantee disappointment. Oh yes! White Raccoon Mario. If you happen to fail a level a dozen or so times, you'll notice a nice block appear next to you at the start of the level or the midway point. This feather will turn you into White Raccoon Mario. It basically allows you to fly with a very, VERY, short running start, makes you invincible to any attack until you reach the goal post (minus lava, bottomless pit, etc), and allows you to defeat any enemy simply by touching them. The catch? When you finish the level, the circle will remain red colored, rather than changing to the "completed" blue color. I can't say for sure if it'll prevent you from getting the star on your profile for completing all levels, since mine are all blue, but that's just something to keep in mind. One tactic I used on the more difficult and frustrating levels was to use White Raccoon Mario to collect the Star/Lunar coins, complete the level, then replay the level without the feather to change the tile to the completed color. Oh right! You can play co-op! I haven't gotten a chance to see if this can be done with one cartridge or if two are needed, but I will update my review as soon as I get a chance to. All in all, I had a blast playing the game. It kept me busy for quite a while. The game isn't very challenging, though, and there isn't much replay value once you collect everything. The game virtually hasn't changed from the other games of similar name, so if you're expecting something new, you're going to be disappointed. If you're looking for a relaxing platformer, this is a pretty good choice. More hardcore players might opt for something like Rayman Origins instead.

It's actually better than the first one
It's actually better than the first one. You get more abilities like the leaf, which lets you fly, gold flowers which is better than the flower, and adds gold coins to your counter, and the gold lwaf, which allows you to fly without having to run as far as witb the regular leaf. Number two, the Star Coins are much easier to find for the most part. Every now and then I might have to watch a video walkthrough on youtube for a secret exit or a Star Coin, but they are usually easy to get. I'm a guy that doesn't like stuff that's too difficult, and this game can be challenging at times, but for the most part, is pretty easy and simple. Yeah it has basic challenges like be careful of enemies and what not, but so long as you take your time and try to do stuff right, it's not too difficult. The levels are unique and fun. Alot of similarity between this one and the first one when it comes to level design (under water, in the clouds, on the ground, swamps, mountains), but the game is so sille and fun you won't reall mind. It's a fun game that isn't too demanding, and it's replayability is incredible. I can come back later in the future and play this over and over again, and mever get tired of it. All for all, it feels like there could be more, but I'm satisfied with what this has offered so far.

Everything I Thought It Would Be
A lengthy, in-depth review might be justifiable were the reader completely unaware of both the classic side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. series and the contemporary New Super Mario Bros. titles. However, I doubt that many people like that both exist AND will happen upon my review in search of enlightenment concerning the goings on in the long established Mushroom Kingdom. Basically, NSMB2 is similar to the prior two New Super Mario Bros. titles; save for the game-specific arsenal of power-ups, entirely different map and level designs, and inclusion of the coin-collection mechanic (a better excuse to collect coins than the 1-Ups you will reap). And also, so what? If you enjoy platformers and, specifically, side-scrolling Mario titles, revel in a colorful, creative world, and appreciate exceptional play control and creative level design New Super Mario Bros. 2 will probably appeal to you. If you want something drastically different from a side-scrolling Mario title, don't buy and / or play a side-scrolling Mario title. This game looks and sounds great, provides an imaginative playground in which to experiment with familiar but brilliant game play mechanics (do I hit or ground pound this block, do I triple jump here or utilize a para-troopa for some added height?), and gives any Mario and / or old-school platformer fan ample cause to smile. I could just as easily say if you enjoy fun for the sake of fun, you'll probably enjoy this game. The Coin Rush mode / coin-collection mechanic and the inclusion of the new Gold Fire Flower and returning fan favorite Super Leaf are simply icing on a cake that I (and, surely, many Mario fans besides) were ready to eat before we even knew there was a cake. I've said my piece; now, if you don't mind, I'm still roughly 400,000 coins short of the desired 1,000,000 coin mark.
