Amazing board game, you gonna love it.
You have to spend some time to learn the rules but after that you will be addicted. Note that it needs 3 or 4 people (min/max) in order to be able to play it. Have fun :)

This game is awful - its not like the original
This game is awful - its not like the original. Its hard to learn. The outcome of the game is heavily dependent on the dice roll. We've found it to be utterly unbalanced for three players. The rules are cryptic. The online instruction on the company website is not helpful. There are mis-prints on longest road card. There playing cards are half the size of the original ones in catan and are wearing out faster than those in the original. The small cards are really easy to drop. This game is overpriced, has none of the charm of the original and I'm not buying any other Catan products ever again as protest, to show how bad I think this is.

Excellent new take on Catan. Visually stunning, but the plastic playing pieces are hard to pick up and the distinguishing between cities and settlements can be problematic, especially when covered in vines. Most of the base play is similar, however there are some differences- no ports, you collect other goods to trade for resources (fish, feathers, coca), you play to 11 points, longest road no longer earns you points, but a one-to-one trade advantage, largest army allows you to move the robber if it’s on your hex, and now there are alpacas instead of sheep and potatoes instead of wheat. Basically it’s like three mini rounds of Catan- where you aim to earn four points in the first two and three points in the last by building settlements and cities. Now this is where it gets interesting-once you earn the points for that round your tribe goes into decline and you cover your buildings with vines, remove all roads, and place one new settlement, this also means longest road constantly changes hands. Anyone can build roads to a settlement in decline and steal it. This means throughout the game the board is constantly changing and at any time it’s anyone’s game. This makes it very interesting and competitive. The only negative is some of the instructions were a bit contradictory and had some typos- like the spaces between settlements some places said 2 others said 3, we struck with the 2 rule. Can’t recommend this game more! If you love Catan you will really enjoy Rise of the Incas!

I really enjoy this variant. It has just enough new stuff to be fresh but still feels familiar. Really great board design, nice and colourful. I'd recommend it.

Easy to pick up if you’re already familiar with Catan. The variation of the standard rules adds interesting twists. I appreciate the details to make it unique to the scenario.
