Does MUCH more than gutting!
I can't believe how useful this little blade has been. I just finished field testing a half-dozen gutting/skinning blades and this one had no competition. It worked marvelously for gutting/field dressing. But also was extremely useful in skinning and quartering out 3 deer getting them ready for butchering and tanning. I used the little blunt tip to separate sections of the hide from the muscle groups while peeling the hide free. Why pull the hide instead of using a skinner style knife to *slice* the hide free while removing it? Because I tan my deer hides to make buckskin with them. Using a knife to skin with doesn't appear to cut or score the hide... *until* you get to certain stages of tanning and all the score marks show up. This little guy helped separate the tough spots very quickly without scoring the flesh side of the hide. I also tested it while quartering the deer and then separating the whole-muscle groups out while processing the rest of the deer down. Edge held up much better than I expected. Will see how easy it is to put a razor edge back on. Very very impressed and is now my go-to gutting/field dressing/skinning and quartering knife. Light for one tool that does all that. Couldn't be happier. Well done guys. [EDIT: 9.20.20 I ended up using this blade to process out 6 deer last season and I was shocked how well the blade retained it's edge. Great steel, especially for how demanding game processing can be. The hide and hair and sometimes bone and joints can really take their toll in dulling down a razor sharp blade. I found that using a chef steel to keep the blade edge tuned up allowed he knife to retain a razor edge through way more deer than I guessed it would have. I only had to actually resharpen the edge with a diamond rod style DMT sharpener at the very end and that was only because I'm pretty particular with how sharp I like to keep my blades. The rest of the time a small chef steel was the ticket to keep the edge "pulled and tuned" just like I use on my boning and chef knives. (The Victorinox chef steels out of Shef. England are the best quality and value I've found). This little light weight folding genius blade now lives in my outdoor pack and will be getting much more use over the years field dressing and processing game. Well done Outdoor Edge! ]

A hunters must have
This knife has come in handy time after time while skinning my deers. Extremely sharp out of the package. Once you get a slit on the hide you just simply slide it down the spine and it cuts like butter. It has a textured handle so you get have grip while getting messing. I’ll continue to use my Edge on every deer I harvest.

Great gut hook.
Great gut hook knife. Sharp as a razor. But it does not have a sharp point necessitating carrying two knives. One to pierce the belly and then the gut hook to slice it open. So, what I did was slowly and keeping the blade wet and cool, was to grind a two-sided point. Then using a diamond grit sharpener, I made both sides of the points sharp. Now I can use one knife to field dress a deer.

I consider this a good addition to my hunting stuff
Good value. Very sharp. Haven’t resharpened yet cause it hasn’t dulled. Good ergonomics. Most importantly, it makes quick work of what it’s supposed to be used for.

Very impressive
This is the best knife upgrade I've made in a long time for hunting. We skin three to four white tail deer per year and the amount of Labor saved with this is incredible. It's not the same as a hook knife it's 10 times better. I'll never not have one and my buddy watched me use it and immediately went and bought one as. Try it and you won't ever put it down.
