These books have been among the most important reference works in my personal library, and I have turned to them again and again over the years. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to see that the books had been updated and expanded into three volumes. Without hesitation, I immediately ordered all three. The only issue that concerned me----and this is why I am writing this review----is the fact that the new volumes are labeled "hardbound." Readers of the first edition will recall that those books, too, were often listed as "hardbound" when in fact the covers were merely thick cardboard. Because of the soft binding, volume 1, a large book of over 900 pages, did not fare well under frequent usage; my first edition volume 1 is now held together with shipping tape. I was therefore pleased when I received volume 1 of the second edition and saw that it is, indeed, hardbound. It is also beautifully typeset and printed on very high quality paper. This is how a canonical reference book of 900+ pages SHOULD be produced. I thought that many of my fellow users of the first edition would be comforted by the knowledge that the new edition is actually hardbound, not covered in cardboard. It will now take some time to study the material that is new to the second edition and compare it to the first, but I have very high confidence in this team of authors and I feel confident that the purchase will be well worth the price.

The hardcover and pages inside the books look new. However, the cover detached with the book, which is not satisfying.😅

Just love it. Got it today, and already went to a chapter re-doing the calculations just for the fun. Incredible book. Imagine....800 pages of fun !!
