Great book with fantastic Information from over 100 years ago.. the only complaint is that it is a sloppy reprint in that the ends of some pages are missing text. Even though with that small issue I say it is still worth the price of the book since I was mainly after the wealth of knowledge it contained about building lofts and other applications for housing pigeons.

An interesting read. The information is dated.

This is a photocopied reprint and the print quality is poor. Quite a few pages have the last line of text cut off. The quality is decent if you consider the age of the original text, but it would have been better to redo the typesetting and only copy the images. This wouldn’t have taken that much additional effort, as there are programs that can scan and decipher text. I don’t know the rules for reprinting public domain texts, but I’ve downloaded quite a few public domain books and they weren’t photocopied. Also curious that the person who reprinted this does not seem to know the title of the work. In his intro and on the back cover he calls it “Pigeon House Plans and Fixtures.” I guess it doesn’t matter, but it’s weird. Seriously, imagine going to the trouble of reprinting and selling a book and getting the title wrong. Otherwise, this is a good resource, although if you have any construction or carpentry background you’ll find the descriptions of how to build these structures tedious, and if you have no building experience you probably won’t understand the instructions. The value is in the drawings, of which I wish there were more.

This was a gift for my pigeon fancier husband and he is very satisfied with it. It will be handy when he decides to enlarge his pigeon accommodations; he has found it very interesting.
