Can this be used with a usb c dock? i.e. i have a usb c dock plugged into my laptop, could i then plug hdmi from the dock to the kvm switch?

Yes, all the cabling from your laptop dock should be treated as 1 computer.  Still, connect your laptop via USB C to your dock.  I am using the 3 USB ports on the KVM for the keyboard, mouse, and external webcam, and it all works fine across my laptop and desktop.

Confused. the description says extended display, but the q&a and reviews indicate that it is only a duplicate display. so does it do extended display?

Question 3

Does this support 1080p 144z display?  The refresh rate of 144hz is a blocker for me

I'm currently able to use dual 3880x1440 at 144hz, but any higher and it flickers.  The monitors default is 165hz, to set it lower I had to connect directly to the computer manually set the refresh to 144Hz then plug in the KVM.

I had to replace all the cables that came with the KVM.

Question 4

Does this switch allow you to watch both PCs on separate monitors while controlling one with the keyboard/mouse?

Yes. The cables for the PCs include HDMI, USB, Speakers, and Microphone combining into one HDMI input to the switch. You would plug everything into the PCs except for the HDMI, but plug the other end of that cable into the HDMI port on the back as it will carry the sound and USB signals. Then plug HDMI cables directly from each PC to the respective monitors, bypassing the switch. As there is no HDMI coming from the output of the switch, it will just ignore the video.
The sound and controls will move with whichever PC is set on the switch, but the video is working independent of the switch and is not changed.
