Great upgrade from the Gen1 Cloud Key
I got this primarily for the addition of a backup battery over the 1st generation Cloud Key, to illeviate fears of a currupt database after power failure. Initially I felt the much higher price was just not justified but having tested it to work flawlessly in safely shutting down, taking the premium build quality into account and the smart display which scrolls between showing the IP address and connected devices count I'm more than happy. As far as speed goes it is alot faster than the Gen1, so much so I find I connect to and use it lot more because it is no longer messes with my impatience!

Very easy setup
It’s a little expensive for what it does but I will be aiming to use this more often as it makes life a lot easier than trying to find a fresh computer for each set up. Connect this device to a suitable PoE switch that’s connected to a router, enter the IP address that appears on the display into a browser and you have full access to the controller. From there configure your access points and other Ubiquiti devices. As long as you know the controller’s IP, you can use any web capable device to access the network settings. It’s a great tool that shows number of devices on the network and the number of clients using the network. Highly recommended if you can get the extra money to buy it.

Great upgrade
Great upgrade from the cloud key gen1. It’s much faster, more responsive, great display, and the built in battery means no more database corruption.

Fine at first then became very problematic
Operated just fine for about 6-7 months. Managed my network very well. But then, I don't know if it was after a software update or not, it started just.... stopping. Hard to explain. It would "turn off" and wouldn't power back on for hours or sometimes every. I would have to unplug it, wait a few hours sometimes and then reconnect it. It seems to be similar problem that others in the Ubiquiti community are reporting and Ubiquiti don't seem to want to resolve it. In the end I've unplugged it and put it away. I migrated network management to using their software on an old Mac Mini. Not ideal, but doesn't just ..... stop.

Poor Reliability for an expensive product
I have been using this for 2 months now. It is powered using POE from a Uinfi POE switch. It randomly powers down and the only way to restart it is to pull the Ethernet cable and plug it back in which is effectively power cycling it. Looks like Ubiquiti have no answers for this and it is happening to many people now. Do a google search on; Ubiquiti Cloud Key Gen 2 powering off
