Is the ink cartridge(s) included?

Even if you receive ink with it, if you use the printer much you will need more ink.  When we bought our printer to make xmas cards we bought a second ink pack, and after two months have already drawn from the backup pack to replace several colors.  So this week we bought two more backup ink packs (in my experience you can't buy only the colors you need, you must buy a whole pack of 8).  Thus we have spent, for printer and ink, in a little over 2 months, so far over a thousand dollars, $500 for the printer and $500 for paper and ink,  but we now have some backup ink on hand, enough for a few more months.  So ink costs are potentially exhorbitant, but the printing results are beautiful.  Unfortunately for us it isn't all that hard to put paper in upside down, and print on the backside, so some signiicant amounts of ink have been wasted.  Be careful with it.

I'm a graphic designer and photographer, I use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign as well as Photoshop. How does this printer handle graphics and typography?

This printer can handle just about anything. The best thing to do is create a profile for the programs that you want to print from, calibrate the monitor that you are using and then you should be fine.  It will take a few test prints to figure out exactly how you want your prints to look like.  Once your profile is set you will be completely satisfied with your prints.  Keep in mind that it is also recommended to redo the profile and calibration of your monitor after a few months of hard use, this will ensure that your prints are exactly how you want them.  This printer has been the best investment that I have made.  I use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop with my printer and this printer has produced some of the best prints that I have ever produced.  You will not be disappointed with this printer.

Question 3

Can this print office documents? I don't do a ton of printing, though once in a while I need to print a letter or web page mockup.

This printer is a specialty medium-format color photo printer. It is WAY overqualified to print office documents. There are far less expensive models for printing documents.  It would be foolish to buy this one just to print documents.
