YES! YES! This book must be read by both men and women alike! While the title may bring a thought to mind of a man sparking a fire by saying men should be superior to women, which is hardly the case! The idea and concept of masculinity is completely distorted and has been taken out of context that we have seen a major shift in how men and fathers are viewed in general! Think about any sitcom or cartoon on television today. The man is almost always a bumbling, somewhat slow witted and insecure person who is just trying to handle the ways of the world while making himself look foolish for the benefit of laughter. It wasn’t always like this! This book does an excellent job of showing you how to embrace your masculinity in a manner that is productive, respective and probably most important, self-assuring.The world of masculine behavior is ever-changing but rather than toss it aside as something to be made fun of or ridiculed for, it should be embraced, but before than can happen, it must be understood what it truly is. I recommend this book for men or women and even more so for young teenage boys and girls. Great, quick read written in a quick moving, easy to follow along format. The message you receive isn’t one of superiority or authority, rather it is about responsibility, development, and respect for yourself and others. The approach that Tim Patten takes isn’t offensive or apologetic, it is simply stating what should be obvious but has been hidden behind misunderstanding and ridicule. I will forewarn anyone reading this review and this book, read it with an open mind, it may come off as a woman hating manifesto, but it is far from that. I will admit that at many times I rolled my eyes at certain passages and statements, but then in the very next vien I would find myself nodding along in agreement with the statements.It has many good if not great points, but I myself do consider it a little lopsided, but I and you are the ones picking up a book called “Masculinity is Our Future” so what do you expect.I fall into the Men Going Their Own Way(MGTOW) camp, but only by default, I personally don’t think the problem with society is a male vs female thing as a whole but rather a human vs a violent, cold, uncaring, and limited resource universe thing.So granted this is spoken to from the male perspective in this book, and I thought it had many great insights and thought provoking questions to present, answer, and to ask one’s self. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Give it a chance *by F***0 on January 29, 2018* When I first came across this book I didn’t really think I would be reading it, let alone writing a review on it. The cover caught my eye first, the title made me look even closer. The author, Tim Patten, was not familiar to me in a positive or negative way. I found myself with a little time to kill and just intrigued enough to read “Masculinity Is Our Future”, and I can’t say I am upset with the read. It wasn’t an extremely long book, less than 200 pages in fact, but the worked to its advantage. The book moves relatively quickly through some intriguing subject matter. There is no “we are better than you” stand point anywhere here. The book introduces the theory that masculinity is being, for the most part, misused in todays society. So much negative attention to issues related to masculinity in the media has left the subject seemingly unapproachable at times. Patten does a fantastic job at making the reader consider things from a perspective that doesn’t allow the thoughts to be offensive. This book brings to light the many benefits of healthy masculinity to not only the individual but to society as a whole. Masculinity is even addressed in the transsexual and non-binary communities before chapter 4 starts. My point is that there is a diverse offering of information underneath the cover of this book that shouldn’t be discounted.
