My previous one fell off yesterday afternoon when I was replacing the fuel door actuator for my gas tank.I guess 104 degrees is the max for a rubber lanyard. I had to remove the rubber plug that attaches it to the fuel door and when I took a pair of needle nose pliers; the lanyard end loop just split and fell on the ground. ( I think the entire lanyard had dry-rotted)Placing the stopper into the new lanyard hole was easy and then attaching the plug to the fuel door latch was easy also.Simply tightened the cap; closed the door; and I was ready to refill my tank.No warning lights on my instrument cluster or beeping either.DIY ‘till you drop!I don’t know what “sheerness” means for this item?! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars BETTER THAN THE LESS EXPENSIVE ONES.. It even came in a Mercedes bag inside of the box, so it's clearly something that's designed for the car, and the leash fit into the nut from the old one.Though it didn't address my evap leak (I had a bit of a hole in the filler neck), it is a good idea to replace these every couple of years on a car, and it turns much more easily and feels more solid than the old one did.Yeah, it's more expensive than a generic, but it's a small price premium to have this fit exactly and work with the lens leashing system built into the car.
