Review: Pretty amazing value for dollar, slightly power hungry - I bought these at the intro $129 rate from Micca. I hooked them up to my PS Audio Sprout 100 and was immediately impressed. I have a pair of Elac UniFi UB5's hooked to this setup usually but was attracted to the small footprint of these Miccas. These compare very favorably to the Elacs, but make no mistake they are not remotely close to them in terms of overall sound quality. The Elacs absolutely have more detail. But it's not really a favorable comparison is it? The Micca's are very well made. The magnetic grills are a nice touch. I was using the Elacs as a soundbar replacement which is actually a little overkill for this speaker. The Miccas have a very full bodied sound. I haven't seen a freq graph of them but they seem to have a bit of a v shaped presentation. Listening to Yosi Horikawa's Bubbles bears this out. There are some mids that are audible but noticeably less pronounced than in the Elacs. The upshot for a soundbar replacement with the v-shaped presentation is that this speaker seems to have a built in loudness compensation for the Fletcher-Munson curve, at lower volumes the presentation seems more neutral which allows for more enjoyable listening at lower volumes. The bass seems to defy the laws of physics. If you really peg the volume on bass heavy tracks there is noticeable port noise. The downside of all that bass is that these are not efficient speakers and you really should have a good amount of wattage to get them to an enjoyable volume. I originally got these to put on my desk. I may get another pair for that, but I really like that these are small enough to put on my mantle and will free up the space in front of my fireplace. I love the Elacs and will find another place to put them in my house but for now these Miccas and my PS Audio Sprout 100 are making a killer soundbar replacement. Sound stage is very good particular for such a small speaker. They don't seem too picky with regard to how close or far away from the wall they are. Mine are right up against the wall which is not ideal and they do sound better about 6" away but they don't sound bad as is. Imaging is decent. Off axis response is decent. This is a forgiving loudspeaker. You can get a decent center image and sound stage with a simple setup. You can make these sound great if you take the time to do so. I won't because I am limited to where I am going to put them but, where they are sounds really good. Gotta love a speaker that you can put up against wall with no toe in and still have them sound decent. If you are looking for an amazing budget hifi setup, get a pair of these and a small desktop class D amp from the likes of Topping, SMSL, Dayton Audio, and be done with it. You can get into the weeds with high dollar equipment if that's your thing but a sub $300 setup like what I've just described will give you a ton of listening pleasure and not break the bank. These are an easy recommendation.
Review: What is this sorcery - So I got these after Zeos was talking them up real big. I figured they'd be hard to drive and the small bl20c I got to push them wouldn't cut it, but so far I am so impressed. For comparison I have an LG SL7Y soundbar and it's included wireless subwoofer. Of course these don't quite match the bass output of that sub but for less than half the price they stomp that soundbar. They just pump out so much power at such a high quality for the price it's absurd. So far I've tried these with a Metallica vinyl and a bunch of stuff from my phone over Bluetooth to the bl20c and everything just sounds wonderful. Bass performance is powerful and clean. Rumbles my room nicely when needed. Highs are clear and don't get harsh, even with the tendency for my record player to highlight cymbals. These look nice and the front mesh is magnetic and just comes off with a light pull. The vinyl wrap is very tasteful and the wood construction doesn't echo at all and feels very sturdy. Overall I'd say these are an amazing bang for the buck even at regular price, and I can't wait to get a sub to pair them up with and a DAC so I can move the soundbar to another room entirely. Update: Got a Wiim Pro Plus so everything's all hooked up completely and the LG soundbar is now out of my room. I've gotta say, it's been maybe about a month and I'm in love with these speakers. I'm honestly debating on whether or not a sub is even needed for me, as all the EDM hits perfectly and these fill the room so well. Metal and rock kicks don't hit quite as hard, however, so maybe the sub will be an addition in the end, but as it stands, they're really quite capable. I don't think I've ever needed to push them to their limit, either. For reference, these are in a room that's roughly 20'x20' with a little bit of furniture. No room correction or anything like that has been performed, and most of the audio has been YouTube Music streamed via airplay or wi-fi from the pc, so not really anything hi-res except for maybe my records.

**Q: I want to connect this to my monitor, it is samsung ultrawide monitor model:c49hg90. how can i make this work?**
A: First off, nice monitor! You cannot directly connect these speakers to that monitor. You need an amplifier, and monitors do not come with amps. This monitor does come with a headphone output jack. If your amplifier/receiver has a 1/8 input jack, then you can run a 1/8 cable from the monitor to the amp/receiver, and then wire up the speakers to the amp/receiver. Like others have noted you will need a fairly powerful amp to truly get the most out of these speakers./

**Q: In a small to medium size room, is the sprout 100 powerful enough to drive them loud?**
A: Small room yes.  Medium to large room, not really.  I have the Sprout 100 and these sound good through them but you really have to crank the volume up to get them to enjoyable levels.  I have the Elac UniFi UB5's which aren't the most sensitive speakers but I think it's just the size difference between the 2 that makes the Sprout 100 able to create a larger, more room filling sound with the Elacs than with the Miccas.  The Micca's are a neat little speaker.  They can take a lot of power and almost need a lot of power to be pushed through them to really open up.  When they do open up they sound great.  But at distance, at lower volumes, they can actually sound kind of thin.    In my living room, as a soundbar replacement it was good, but that room is 14x24.  The Sprout 100 was able to push them but it didn't seem ideal.  Now, I have them in a small bedroom, 10'x12', using them near field on my desk and they sound amazing being pushed by a Topping PA3.  The PA3 incidentally has just barely enough juice to push these near field at enjoyable but not extremely loud volumes.  The RB42's are amazing little speakers, particularly at the price point but they need a LOT of amp to sound their best.

**Q: How much does one speaker weigh?**
A: They are pretty hefty at a little over about 7lbs/3kg each. So, keep that in mind when considering where you plan to place/mount them. 😉

**Q: What speaker stands would you recommend for these speakers?**
A: I purchased Mount It speaker stands for these with separate foam wedges beneath them to angle the sound up.

I've had these speakers for some time now, so I'll review them. These are the Micca RB42 bookshelf speakers, bought on Amazon for $150. They are black, vinyl wrapped. The face is narrow and the speakers themselves are not quite a foot tall, and about as deep as they are tall. They will easily fit on a bookshelf, tho there might be a little hang - over, depending on your bookshelf. The construction of the speaker is extremely solid, the MDF is quite thick. When you hold it, you get the impression that it is very well - built. It's like one little chunk of wood. Now, the sound. I'm running them thru the PS Audio Sprout 100. My sources are streaming via computer and turntable. The selections include Sinatra, Tori Amos, Beastie Boys, Miles Davis, and Sneaker Pimps. Now the breakdown: the highs are crisp, clear, and well - defined. Sharp. I didn't expect this given it's 3/4 in. tweeter. The midrange is little short of excellent, when I listened to the voicing of Sinatra, Frank's voice was rich and mellow, and clean. No fuzzyness or tinnyness at all. Likewise with all the vocalists. I don't know what Micca did, but they seemed to have perfectly matched the woofer with the tweeter. Now let's talk about the lows. This is the one area where this speaker shines above all else. If you don't measure the foam surround, the woofer is about 3 inches. And the sound coming out of it is, well, stunning. The bass is deep and rich and FULL. When I played Beastie Boys and Sneaker Pimps, I just shook my head. This speaker dips to at least 50 htz, maybe less. This may have something to do with how deep the speaker is, as well as the ported construction (the port is in the rear). Just how good is the bass? Well, I have a subwoofer, a good one. I unhooked it and listened to the speakers alone. NOT ONLY WAS THERE NO DIFFERENCE, THE BASS SOUNDED CLEANER AND TIGHTER. I'm not making this up. So I'm confident in telling you this : if you have a two channel system, and not a home theater system, you will not need a subwoofer with these speakers. Even if you're a true basshead, I urge you to listen to these speakers alone before you hook up the sub. For sound quality, these are excellent speakers. What are the cons of the speakers? I would like to see Micca offer them in different colors, besides black. I would like to see Micca offer them in a large scale version, say a 6 in. woofer and a 1 in. tweeter with a blended midrange (now THAT would be something!). And finally, I should say that I live in an apartment, so I can't push these speakers to their limit. But I can tell you that low to medium volume, these are excellent speakers and I strongly recommend them. And they way over - perform given their price.
