The art work is the best but the written takes it to 11. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Alan and Anne’s backstory *by S***V on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2022* This was a fantastic look into Alan and Annie’s past relationships before they were with each other.I love seeing more of how Alan and ally experimented with each other and got to know their own kinks during college. Also seeing how Anne come out as bisexual was done so well. Another favorite part in this was seeing how Cassie and Tom met. Two girls met online and connect through their love of BDSM. The next step is for them to meet, which progresses into a beautiful, sexy, risque (but I never felt pornographic) endeavor. I was invested from the beginning with these characters, These fictional people have depth to spare. They can be wonderful, and they can also cause unnecessary pain for those they care about, just like us real people. . These people wear masks, and not jut the kinky BDSM ones, Sunstone had a deep humanity to it's love story. The humanity comes from the characters and the love and energy the author put into this tale. Stjepan Sejic says Mercy is Sunstone's Lord of the Rings, if Sunstone was The Hobbit. There's a promise of something big there. And i could not possibly hold my excitement at the prospect of idea of sharing more time with all these characters that I love. The story of Mercy is mostly told in flashbacks through the point of view of Alan and Anne. We already know quite a bit of Alan's story from the previous volumes, but a lot of scenes were explored that in hindsight I never thought were necessary. But the truth is that the new old parts with Alan and Ally frame a whole lot of the general story, On to Anne. We know little about her from the previous books, and here we are given a whole lot. And all of plot/story involving her is a wonderfully written, funny, and emotionally moving as any other parts of Sunstone.This series fills me with joy, and I know it does to others. There's nothing like it, I think. If you've already read previous Sunstone volumes, you can't mix this. This isn't just a spin off. Its an expansion of a story that intertwines a lot of people. If you've never read Sunstone, and it seems interesting. Please, go for it. Things like this aren't made often.
