Try the .060 stuff and you'll have better success with the molding and forming of the Kydex. This is so thick that it really doesn't want to bend unless you have molds and forms, a lot of pressure, and a way of handling a much hotter piece of plastic than the .060 stuff. I use this Kydex to back up my leather pocket holsters. Both the homemade ones I make or the factory ones I buy. Both in just leather will eventually start to print as the leather molds closely to the gun. But with leather backed by a straight piece of .080 Kydex, it will stay as stiff as a board and will not give up its shape. My best friend was the one who did the actual work... However, based on watching the whole process from start to finish, I can definitely say that this kydex is awesome stuff! We did a "piggy-back" sheath (two knives) with a fire-steel holder and a piece on the back to hold a small diamond/ceramic whetstone. The piece of kydex we used for the whetstone was the .060 which worked well. Although, I definitely recommend the 0.80 stuff for heavier-duty applications... And if it's done correctly, the 0.80 kydex will pick up every single contour and edge, giving you amazing definition.
