It’s a really nice set. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Nice Set *by C***P on December 31, 2022* I was pleased with this chess set that I bought for my grandson. I disagree with others who have said they are made of cheap plastic. They are actually made of very sturdy plastic, and the detail on them is very good. You'd have to be extremely rough with them for them to break. That being said, I wouldn't leave them laying around where a dog could chew on them. I also disagree with some who said they fall over easily. I, like others, was disappointed that the bases on them are hollow when they could have easily been made solid, but I played several games with both a 14 and a 12 year old and none of the pieces fell over even when bumped. The board is nice--sort of a laminated heavy cardboard that folds up into a square which is similar to a lot of other board games. It's oversized because the chess pieces are oversized. I paid $39.50 which is probably as much overpriced as other popular board games (like Settlers of Catan, Monopoly, Ticket to Ride, etc.) which are anywhere from $30-45. All board games are overpriced. The only negative that I can think of (which is minor) is that the knights are somewhat oversized for the size of the board squares. They're rearing up and their upper feet extend a bit over a square which makes the board seem a bit crowded at times. The fact that they're not simple chess pieces takes only a little getting used to but overall they're not confusing. Just like simple chess pieces the rooks are castles, the knights are horses, the bishops have bishop's hats, the king and queen are tall with the king in pants and the queen in a long skirt, and the pawns are very short.
