Picture a girl of today, not used to physical labor, accustomed to various machines to do the laundry and farm work, who loves her cell phone, video games and TV. Suddenly transport her into a Little House on the Prairie setting. She has to tend farm animals, milk cows, work in the garden and fields, basically work till she is exhausted just to help the family subsist. And she has to keep her real identity from the parents although the siblings are aware of who she is and helps her learn how to do the required chores. Initially fearful and desperate to return home, she becomes attached to her new family and by the end hates to leave them. While there she helps the teen boy in the family overcome his anger at the loss of his parents and come to accept and appreciate the farm family who took him in. Throughout the ordeal she maintains her faith and dependence on Jesus. I would probably consider this book to be young adult but as an almost senior citizen, I enjoyed it too. Danni McGrath, I was hoping for a sequel. One that shows what happened to the young girl who was transferred from her farm family to the modern world. And another for what happened in the farm family when the girls returns to their rightful families. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautifully Crafted *by W***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2015* I am a grown, mature woman who happened to stumble upon this little gem of a book and since I like reading all types of literature, regardless of the intended audience, I downloaded Agnes Campbell's Hat, not quite sure as to what was in store. I have to say, it was a beautiful little read. Sort of an up-dated Wizard Of Oz , where the main character is swept away to another land, only one not nearly as glamorous and intriguing as Dorothy's but an eye-opening journey just the same. Beautifully crafted and thoughtfully rendered, it speaks from a girl's point of view without seeming infantile.I wish this could be required reading in grade-schools, perhaps it would awaken an interest in history and life before cell phones for children whothink life should be nothing more than entertainment. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a Great Read! *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2015* I suppose most young people wonder what it would be like to somehow step into a time warp and end up living in a completely different age for a time. That's what happens to Tessa. Her experience doesn't look like fun in the beginning, but she learns to adapt and she acquires maturity beyond her years through this experience. Also, having a life of ease isn't as appealing for the more mature Tessa. There are things to appreciate that are far more important than modern conveniences.
